Rave On, John Donne  Van Morrison

Rave On, John Donne ? Inarticulate Speech of the Heart ? September Night
They are all from the Inarticulate Speech of the Heart Album. Because of the simplicity
these songs I have grouped them into ?one.?
Rave On, John Donne (Van Morrison)
The music to this is a constantly repeated 2 bar sequence
Very Slow 4
| Gmaj9 (=Bm7/ G Bass) / / / |Am7 / D11 (=Am7/D Bass) / |
The organ adds a constantly repeated run on each beat playing deg deg deg deg etc
An electric piano plays some licks using the notes of the scale of G major
(Spoken)
Rave on, John Donne, rave on thy holy fool
Down through the weeks of ages
In the moss pond dark dank pools
Rave on Donne through the industrial revolution
Empiricism, the atomic and nuclear age
Rave on Donne through time and space down through the corridors
Rave on words on printed page
Rave on, you left us infinity
on well pressed pages for to fade
Drive on with wild abandon
Up temple, frenzied heels
Rave on, Walt Whitman, knows Donne in wet grass
Rave on, fill the senses
On nature's bright green shady path
Rave on Omar Khayyam, rave on Cardinal Debran?
Oh, what sweet wine we drinketh
The celebration will be held
We will partake the wine and break the holy bread
Rave on letter men from out of Ireland
Rave on, Mr Yeats
Rave on Donne through thy holy Rosy Cross
Rave on Donne through theosophy and the golden dawn
Rave on through the writing of a vision
Rave on, rave on, rave on, rave on, rave on, rave on
(Sang)
[Gmaj9]and so on[Am7] [D11] [Gmaj9] [Am7]
Rave on, John Donne, rave on thy holy fool
Donne through the weeks of ages
In the moss pond dark dank pools
Rave on, down though the industrial revolution

Rave on, on printed page.
Sax Solo to end.

September Night (Van Morrison)
This is an instrumental with the main ?tune? being carried by the piano and ethereal voices.
In the simplest terms it starts with the first sequence which is
Ebmaj9 (= Gm7 / Eb Bass) for a couple of Bars then
Dbmaj9 (= Fm7 / Db Bass) for 2 Bars and back to Ebmaj9 to repeat
There is a second sequence after a minute or so which is:
Fm9 (=Abmaj7 / F Bass) for a few bars over which the piano hits arpeggios and block Fm
and Van makes some soulful Ahh noises that could be misconstrued as constipation, before
back to Ebmaj9.
This is repeated a few times and it then goes back to the 1st sequence
