FROGS
ALICE IN CHAINS
(unplugged version)
OK, this song took me a pretty long time to figure out. And
i'm not even sure that it's completely right.
But i think you get the basic idea of the song.
Eb tuning: down half a step.
Main riff:

 e:----------------------------------------
 B:----------------------------------------
 G:---------------------------------------- played over and
 D:------5------5------5------5----5----5-- over...
 A:----4------4------4------4--------------
 E:--0------0------0------0------4----3----

Verse:
While one of the guitars continues playing the main riff, the
other one plays this:

 e:---------------------------------------
 B:---------------5--------7-------(7)----
 G:----6b-r-b----------------5------------ X4
 D:---------------------------------------
 A:---------------------------------------
 E:--0---------0-----0----------0---------

what does friend mean to you...
At the end of the verse it changes to this:

 e:----------------------------------------------------
 B:----------------------------------------------------
 G:----------------------------------------------------
 D:------5-----5-----5-----5-----5-----5-----5-----5---
 A:----5-----4-----5-----4-----5-----4-----5-----4-----
 E:--3-----3-----3-----3-----3-----3-----3-----3-------

Then go back to the main riff and then comes the second verse
which is identical to the first.
Chorus:
[G#5] [A#5] [C]

 e:-----------------0--0-0-0-0--
 B:-----------------1--1-1-1-1--
 G:-----------------0--0-0-0-0--
 D:--6-6-6-6-6--8---2--2-2-2-2--
 A:--6-6-6-6-6--8---3--3-3-3-3--
 E:--4-4-4-4-4--6---0--0-0-0-0--

[G#5] [A#5] [C]

 e:------------------0--0-0-0-0--
 B:------------------1--1-1-1-1--
 G:------------------0--0-0-0-0-- X6
 D:--6-6-6-6-6---8---2--2-2-2-2--
 A:--6-6-6-6-6---8---3--3-3-3-3--
 E:--4-4-4-4-4---6---0--0-0-0-0--

why's it got to be this way.......
The chorus ends like this:
[G#5] [A#5] [Bm]

 e:-----------------2---
 B:-----------------3---
 G:-----------------4---
 D:--6-6-6-6-6--8---4---
 A:--6-6-6-6-6--8---2---
 E:--4-4-4-4-4--6-------

After a couple of times, guitar two plays something like this (
I'm not too sure about this part, i've listened and relistened
to the cd but i just can't seem to really get it). But it's
close enough.

 e:-------------3------9b-r-9-7---------7----
 B:-----------3---3-------------7-----7---7--
 G:------5-3---------------------------------
 D:----5-------------------------------------
 A:--3---------------------------------------
 E:------------------------------------------
 e:-------------3------9b-r--7--9b--
 B:-----------3---3-----------------
 G:------5-3------------------------
 D:----5----------------------------
 A:--3------------------------------
 E:---------------------------------

Verse.
Chorus.
Then comes this weird part where layne starts talking.
One of the guitars keeps on playing the main riff and the
second one just fiddles around with the harmonics on the 12th
and 15th fret i think...
LYRICS
What does friend mean to you?
Aword so wrongfuly abused
Are like me confused?
All included but you?
Alone...
The sounds of silence often soothe
Shapes and colours shift with mood
Pupils widen and change their hue
Rapid brown avoid clear blue
Why's it have to be this way
be this way (X5)
Flowers watched through wide brown eyes
A child sings an unclaimed tune
Innocence spins cold cocoon
Grow to see the pain too soon
(chorus)
7 am...on a tuesday...in august......Next week i turn 28...I'm
still young... it'll keep me off the wall...i scream you....I
got away....
show you're afraid(???).....that's my fate.....my fate.....my
fate...
Never fuck with me again.....don't fuck with me
again....?????.....?????
Well thats what i've got for this song. If anybody happens to
know Jerry Cantrell, please correct any mistakes I made....
Thanx
J.P.

Frogs by Alice in Chains
This is tuned down a half step just like any other Alice in Chains song. It
Basically has three parts.
First part...the verse:

 e|------------------------------|
 b|------------------------------|
 g|------------------------------|
 d|----5----5----5----5--5-5|
 a|--4----4----4----4---------|
 e|0----0----0----0----4--3-|

that repeats over and over.
The next part is the pre-chorus type thing

 e|---------------------------|
 b|---------------------------|
 g|---------------------------|
 d|----5------------5-------|
 a|--5--5--------5---5-----|
 e|3------3-4-3-------3-4|

you get the Idea.
next is the Chorus type thing:
e|444446-8--|
b|444446-8--|
g|555557-9--|
d|666668-10|
a|666668-10|
e|444446-8--|
It repeats that for a while.
that's it....pretty easy. E-mail me at xGxOxDx@aol.com to give criticism, to
praise my work, or to say what's up.
