"From Red to Blue"
by
Billy Bragg
(from the album "William Bloke")
Notes: I suggest playing it using barre chords with a rhythm similar to that
used in the first bar of the intro. On the CD it is actually about a quarter
tone lower than shown below (who cares right?). The breaks aren't quite
perfect but will sound effective enough.

[F]Another [Am]day dawns grey,[Gm] It's enough to [Bb]make my spit
[F]Still we go[Am] on our way[Bb], just putting [Gm]up with it
[C]And when I [Dm]try to make[C] m[Bb]y feelings known to [Gm]you
[F]It sounds like [Am]you have [Bb]changed from [Gm]red to bl[F]ue
( Tab from: http://www.guitartabs.cc/tabs/b/billy_bragg/from_red_to_blue_tab.html )
[F]Well you're a [Am]father now, [Gm]you see things in [Bb]different ways
[F]For every [Am]parent will, [Bb]gain perspective on their [Gm]wilder days
[C]But that alone does[Dm] not explai[C]n,[Bb] the change I see in [Gm]you
[F]The way you've [Am]drifted o[Bb]ff f[Gm]rom red to [F]blue
[Dm]Somet[C]imes I [Bb]think to my[F]self
Should I vote [Bb]red for my [F]class or g[Bb]reen for our [F]children?
[Dm]But [C]whatever [Bb]choice I [F]make

[F]So you [Am]bought it all,[Gm] the best your [Bb]money could buy
[F]And I watched you [Am]sell your soul [Bb]for their bright [Gm]shining lie
[C]Where are the [Dm]principl[C]es[Bb] of the friend I thought I [Gm]knew?
[F]I guess you [Am]let them [Bb]fade [Gm]from red to [F]blue
[F]I hate the [Am]compromises[Gm] that life forces [Bb]us to make
[F]We must all [Am]bend a little[Bb] if we are [Gm]not to break
[C]But the ideals you [Dm]opted out[C] o[Bb]f, I still hold them to be [Gm]true
F Am Bb Gm F (hold)
I guess they weren't so firmly held by you.
