Shelter From the Storm Bob Dylan
This one was pretty easy to figure out. The first tab I posted was messed up but
I think I got this one right.
Any questions, just email me at mpsguitarguy83@comcast.net.
The main chord progression is E A E B7 A E
Strum an E chord for the intro for 4 measures with 4 beats to each measure.
[E]'Twas in another lifetime, [A]one of toil and blood
[E]When blackness was a [B7]virtue and the [A]road was full of [E]mud
I came in from the wilderness, [A]a creature void of [E]form.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give y[B7]ou [A]shelter from the [E]storm."
(Transfer): E A E A E
[E]And if I pass this way again, [A]you can rest assure[E]d
I'll always do my best for [B7]her, on [A]that I give my [E]word
In a world of steel-eyed death, and men who are [A]fighting to be [E]warm.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give [B7]you [A]shelter from the [E]storm."
[E] [A] [E]
Not a word was spoke between us, [A]there was little risk [E]involved
Everything up to that [B7]point had been [A]left unresolve[E]d.
Try imagining a place where it's [A]always safe and [E]warm.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give [B7]you [A]shelter from the [E]storm."
[E] [A] [E] [A]
[E]I was burned out from exhaustion, [A]buried in the [E]hail,
Poisoned in the [B7]bushes an' [A]blown out on the [E]trail,
Hunted like a crocodile, [A]ravaged in the corn.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give [B7]you [A]shelter from the [E]storm."
[E] [A] [E] [A] [E]
[E]Suddenly I turned around and [A]she was standin' [E]there
With silver bracelets [B7]on her wrists and [A]flowers in her hai[E]r.
She walked up to me so [A]gracefully and took my crown of thorn[E]s.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give [B7]you [A]shelter from the [E]storm."
[E] [A] [E] [A] [E]
[E]Now there's a wall between us, [A]somethin' there's been [E]lost
I took too much for [B7]granted, [A]got my signals [E]crossed.
Just to think that it all began on a [A]long-forgotten mor[E]n.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give [B7]you [A]shelter from the [E]storm."
[E] [A] [E] [A] [E]
[E]Well, the deputy walks on hard nails and the [A]preacher rides a [E]mount
But nothing really [B7]matters much, it's [A]doom alone that count[E]s
And the one-eyed undertaker, [A]he blows a futile horn.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give [B7]you [A]shelter from the [E]storm."
[E] [A] [E] [A] [E]
[E]I've heard newborn babies wailin' [A]like a mournin' [E]dove
And old men with [B7]broken teeth [A]stranded without [E]love.
Do I understand your question, man, [A]is it hopeless and forlor[E]n?
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give [B7]you [A]shelter from the [E]storm."
[E] [A] [E] [E] [A] [E]
[E]In a little hilltop village, [A]they gambled for my [E]clothes
I bargained for sal[B7]vation an' they [A]gave me a lethal dos[E]e.
I offered up my innocence and [A]got repaid with scorn.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give [B7]you [A]shelter from the stor[E]m."
[E] [A] [E] [E] [A] [E]
[E]Well, I'm livin' in a foreign country but I'm [A]bound to cross the [E]line
Beauty walks a [B7]razor's edge, [A]someday I'll make it [E]mine.
If I could only turn back the clock to when [A]God and her were [E]born.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give [B7]you [A]shelter from the [E]storm."
