All the other chords or tabs for this song are pretty much correct,
but this is the exact way Conor plays the chords in the song.
I figured it out from watching him play it at a show.

The [C/G]rain, it started tapping on the wi[G]ndow near my bed. There was a lo[F]ophole
in my dreaming, so [G7]I got out of it. And to [Amin]my surprise my eyes were wide and
alr[F]eady open. Just my nigh[D7]tstand and my dresser where those nigh[D]tmares had
just been.
So I dr[C/G]essed myself and left them, out i[G]nto the gray streets. But eve[F]rything
seemed different and comp[G7]letely new to me. The [Amin]sky, the trees,
houses, buildings, e[F]ven my own body. And each[D7] person I encountered, I
cou[D]ldn't wait to meet.
And I c[C/G]ame upon a doctor who app[G]eared in quite poor health. I said "there is
not[F]hing that I can do for you that you ca[G7]n't do for yourself." He said "Oh
y[Amin]es you can. Just hold my hand. I th[F]ink that would help." So I [D7]sat with him
a while and then I as[D]ked him how he felt.
He said, "I t[F]hink[Emin] I'm c[Amin]ured. No, in [F]fact,[Emin] I'm s[Amin]ure. Thank [F]you[Emin] stran[Amin]ger, for
your thera[G]peutic smile."
(Play through verse progression once)
So that is [C/G]how I learned the lesson that eve[G]ryone is alone. And your e[F]yes
must do some raining if you e[G7]ver want to grow. But when c[Amin]rying don't help
and you can't compose yourself, it's best[F] to compose a poem, an ho[D7]nest verse
of longing or a si[D]mple song of hope.
And that's why I'm singing,[C/G] "Baby,don't worry, cause n[G]ow I got your back.
And every t[F]ime you feel like crying,
I'm gonna t[G7]ry and make you laugh. But[Amin] if I can't, if it just hurts too bad,
then we will w[F]ait for it to pass, and I[D7] will keep you company through those
d[D]ays so long and black. And we'll just keep w[C/G]orking on the problem we k[G]now
we'll never solve, of Love's un[F]even remainder, our lives are fra[G7]ctions of a
whole." But if the world c[Amin]ould remain within a frame like a pai[F]nting on a
wall. Then I th[D7]ink we would see the beauty then. We would st[D]and staring in
awe
at our st[F]ill [Emin]lives [Amin]posed like a b[F]owl[Emin] of or[Amin]anges, like a [F]st[Emin]ory t[Amin]old by the
fa[G]ult lines and the [G7]soil.
(Play through verse progression once more and end on a C)
