[----]THE APOLOGIST
tabbed by miKe. (ericseis@hotmail.com)
(second half of solo from Chris Lawrence)
This is a cool song played mostly by jamming on Am (open or fifth fret).
Just pile on the distortion and hit single or pairs of strings in the chord
pretty much at random. As long as you keep the 'feel' of the song you can't go
far wrong.
Near the end of the song, as things lose what little definition they had, just attack
the Am(V) and interject with little riffs and jams.
Little Riffs:

 e|--7-8b-7-5----5---- or e|--7-8-/11-- perhaps e|-5-5-5-5-5-5-5---
 b|-----------8-(5)--- maybe b|----------- this b|-5-5-5-5-5-5-5---

Am riff: (this is the odd organ backing)

 g|--6-8--6/8/6--
 d|--7-9--7/9/7--

End riff: (this is the riff that gets played in the final 'bridge')

 g|------4--4-5
 d|--7--7------

[Am]They call me the apologist, and now that I'm at peak,
You know at first it really hurt, we joke about these things,
I've skirted all my differences, but now I'm facing up,
I wanted to apologise for everything I was, so,
[C]I'm sorry, [D]So sorry, [F]So sorry, [G]So sorry,
[C]I'm sorry, [D]So sorry, [F]So sorry,
Am (+Am riff)
Did you understand me right? The people here are good.
They tell me what I should have done, and offer what I could,
(break)
I'm good, all is good,
All's well, no complaints,
Am (+Am riff)
When I feel regret, I get down on my knees and pray,
[C]I'm sorry (So sorry), [D]So sorry (So sorry),
[F]So sorry (So sorry), [G]So sorry (So sorry),
[C]I'm sorry (So sorry), [D]So sorry (So sorry),
[F]So sorry (So sorry),

[C]I live a [D]simple life,[F] unfettered by [G]complex sweets,
[C]You think this isn't [D]me? Don't be [F]weak, there I go.
Am(V)
I'm so sorry,
Thank you for being there for me, thank you for listening, goodbye,
(with little riffs)
I can forfeit selfishness, I hope for you that you apply
this happiness, this peacefulness, this peacefulness.

I'm so sorry,
