summer wages Ian Tyson
(Verse 1)
Never [C]hit seven[C7]teen when you [F]play against the dealer,
For you [C]know those [Am]odds don't ride with [Dm]you,........[G]
Never [C]leave your woman a[C7]lone when your [F]friends are out to steal her,
Years are [C]gambled and [Am]lost like summer [G]wa....[G7]....[C]ges.
(Verse 2)
And we [C]keep rollin [C7]on, 'til we [F]get to Vancouver
And the [C]woman I [Am]love who's livin [Dm]there,....[G]
It's been [C]six long [C7]months, and [F]more since I've seen her,
Maybe [C]gambled and [Am]lost like summer [G]wa....[G7]....[C]ges.
(bridge)
And in [G]all the beer taverns [F]down along [C]Green Street,
Where the [F]dreams of the [C]season are spilled out on the [G]floor,
And the [G]big stands of timber, just [F]waitin for the [C]fallin,
And the [F]hustlers sit and [C]watch for you as they [Dm]wait there by the [G]door.
(Verse 3)
So I [C]work on the [C7]towboats in my [F]slippery city shoes,
Which I [C]swore I'd [Am]never do a[Dm]gain,....[G]
Through the [C]grey, fog-bound [C7]straits, where the [F]cedars stand watchin,
I'll be [C]far-off and [Am]gone like summer [G]wa....[G7]....[C]ges.
(vamp)
(Verse 4)
She's a [C]woman so [C7]fine, I may [F]never try to find her,
For the [C]mem'ries are [Am]what we have them [Dm]for,....[G]
They must [C]never be [C7]changed, for they're [F]all that I'll take with me,
Now I've [C]gambled and [Am]lost my summer [G]wa....[G7]....[C]ges.
(bridge, optional 2nd vamp, repeat 1, vamp 3rd line of verse, repeat last line of last verse)

You may want to drop the Dm's, and replace them with G (end of 2nd line, each verse) and C (last line of bridge)
There are lots of recordings of this song. This is my best attempt at remembering the original (Ian & Sylvia?, ca 1970), with some help from Chesapeake's 1994 album, "Rising Tide," on Sugar Hill Records. Chesapeake was formed by Mike Auldridge, formerly of Seldom Scene. All the recent covers of this (including Ian's!) seem to have dropped the 4th verse, and altered some of the words. Which is fine, but I like these better. Except maybe Green Street really should be Main Street, I'm not certain. Everyone else seems to do 'Main,' but this apparent agreement could just be the 'copycat factor' seeing as how they also all omit the 4th verse, as does Ian himself nowadays, and he also does different lyrics in several places than his own original had. Or 'Green St.' could just be my own faulty memory.
Chesapeake's recording of this song is arranged: 1-2-br-3-v-4-br-v. I like to do: 1-2-br-3-v-4-br-(v)-1, sometimes omitting the 2nd vamp, -- then finish with a vamp of just line 3 of the verse, and line 4 (sung) of the 4th verse. I'm pretty sure the original had this reprise of verse 1.
