I found that, to get the sound Dave Wakeling gets on this song, the chords can be played this way:
the low E string lowered to D/
the A String open/
the D string fingered by the ring finger on the 7th fret/
the G string fingered by the little finger on the 7th fret/
the B string and E string barred by the first finger on the 5th fret.
That's the first sounded chord...the next two are:
E string (lowered to D) open/
A string fingered by the ring finger on the 7th fret/
D string fingered by the little finger on the 7th fret/
G string fingered by the middle finger on the 6th fret/
B string fingered by the index finger on the 5th fret/
E string (still tuned to E) open
And for the third chord, you just slide that down two frets spanning the 3rd, 4th and 5th frets.
Have fun!!
