[G]Song, [D]song of the South,
[C]Sweet potato pie and shut my mouth.
[G]Gone, [D]gone with the wind,
[C]Ain't nobody lookin' back again.
[G]Cotton on the roadside, [D]cotton in the ditch,
we [C]all picked cotton but we never got rich.
[G]Daddy was a vetern [D]southern democrat,
[C]they oughta get a rich man to vote like that.......(singin')
(Chorus)

Well [G]somebody told us that [D]Wall Street fell,
but [C]we were so poor that we couldn't tell.
[G]Cotton was short and the [D]weeds were tall,
but Mr. [C]Roosevelt was gonna save us all.

(Chorus)

Well [G]momma got sick and [D]daddy got down,
the [C]county got the farm and we moved to town.
[G]Papa got a job with the [D]TVA,
he bought a [C]washing machine and then a Chevrolet.
(Chorus)

It sounds nice if you play the C chords with the low-E fretted at the third fret so that you can include low G in an alternating bass line in the last line of each stanza, but especially in the chorus.
