Me & Bobby Mcgee  Kris Kristofferson

[C]BUSTED FLAT IN [C]BATON ROUGE,
[C]HEADIN FOR THE TRAINS;
[C]FEELIN NEARLY [C]FADED AS MY [G7]JEANS,
[G7]BOBBY THUMBED A [G7]DIESEL DOWN
[G7]JUST BEFORE IT [G7]RAINED;
[G7]TOOK US ALL THE [G7]WAY TO NEW OR[C]LEANS.
[C]I TOOK MY HARP[C]ON OUT OF MY [C]DIRTY RED BAN[C]DANNA
AND WAS BLOWIN' [C]SAD WHILE [C7]BOBBY SANG THE [F]BLUES;
[F]_ _ WITH THEM [F]WINDSHIELD WIPERS [F]SLAPPIN TIME
AND [C]BOBBY'S CLAPPIN [C]HANDS WE FINALLY
[G7]SANG EVERY [G7]SONG THAT DRIVER [C]KNEW
[F]FREEDOM'S JUST AN[F]OTHER WORD FOR NOT[C]HIN LEFT TO [C]LOSE,
[G7]NOTHIN' AIN'T WORTH [G7]NOTHIN' BUT IT'S [C]FREE;
[F]FEELIN' GOOD WAS [F]EASY, LORD WHEN [C]BOBBY SANG THE [C]BLUES;
[G7]AND FEELIN WAS [G7]GOOD ENOUGH FOR [G7]ME,
[G7]GOOD ENOUGH FOR [G7]ME AND BOBBY MC[C]GEE
[C]_ _ FROM THE [C]COAL MINES OF KEN[C]TUCKY
TO THE [C]CALIFORNIA [C]SUN,
[C]BOBBY SHARED THE [C]SECRETS OF MY [G7]SOUL;
[G7]STANDIN' RIGHT BE[G7]SIDE ME, LORD
[G7]THROUGH EVERYTHING I [G7]DONE,
[G7]AND EVERY NIGHT SHE [G7]KEPT ME FROM THE C[C]OLD.
[C]_ _ _ THEN [C]SOMEWHERE NEAR SA[C]LINAS, LORD,
I [C]LET HER SLIP A[C]WAY
[C]LOOKIN' FOR THE [C7]HOME I HOPE SHE'LL [F]FIND;
[F]_ AND I'D TRADE [F]ALL OF MY TO[F]MORROWS
FOR A [C]SINGLE YESTERDAY
[G7]HOLDIN BOBBY'S [G7]BODY NEXT TO MIN[C]E
[F]FREEDOM'S JUST AN[F]OTHER WORD FOR NOT[C]HIN LEFT TO [C]LOSE,
[G7]NOTHIN' AIN'T WORTH [G7]NOTHIN' BUT IT'S [C]FREE;
[F]FEELIN' GOOD WAS [F]EASY, LORD WHEN [C]BOBBY SANG THE [C]BLUES;
[G7]AND FEELIN WAS [G7]GOOD ENOUGH FOR [G7]ME,
[G7]GOOD ENOUGH FOR [G7]ME AND BOBBY MC[C]GEE

ME AND BOBBY MCGEE
BY KRIS KRISTOFFERSON
I am not sure which album this song is on, but I have always considered it
a classic. I have been playing it this way for sometime, and it sounds OK.
I use a capo on the second fret so that the song can be played in the simple
keys of G and A.
Dwight
[A]Busted flat in Baton Rouge and heading for the trains
feeling nearly faded as my[E] jeans
Bobby thumbed a diesel down just before it rained
took us all the way to New[A] Orleans
I took my harpoon out of my dirty red bandanna
and was blowing sad while Bobby sang the[D] Blues
with them windshield wipers slapping time
and[A] Bobby clapping hands we finally[E] sang up every song[A] that driver knew
[D]Freedom is just another word for[A] nothing left to lose
[E]Nothing ain't worth nothing but it's[A] free
[D]Feeling good was easy Lord when[A] Bobby sang the Blues
[E]Feeling good was good enough for me
good enough for me and Bobby[A] McGee
[B]From the coal mines of Kentucky to the California sun
Bobby shared the secrets of my[F#] soul
Standing right beside me Lord through everything I done
Every night she kept me from the[B] cold
Then somewhere near Salinas Lord I let her slip away
searching for the home I hope she'll[E] find
And I'd trade all my tomorrows for a[B] single yesterday
[F#]holding Bobby's body next to[B] mine
[E]Freedom is just another word for[B] nothing left to lose
[F#]Nothing left is all she left for[B] me
[E]Feeling good was easy Lord when[B] Bobby sang the Blues
Buddy that was good enough for me
good enough for me and Bobby[B] McGee
(Fade out with)
La de da de da de da da La de da de da
La de da da me and Bobby[F#] McGee
La de da de da de da da La de da de da
La de da da me and Bobby[B] McGee
