I've noticed that the chords work, but it may help to see the beginning riff like this: G C C-G-D.

Good job. Works well for me. The extra C is there to show where to emphasise the chord just before changing to the G.
D and Dsus versions are too thin. Try playing your G with the B string covered at fret 3 and the C with the top E and B covered at fret 3(like a C2).

Capo on 3 then the chords are

would be good if it didn't confusingly repeat "C" unnecessarily

Your chords are for the vocal line, not the guitar which is D, Dsus, Dsus2 (commonly capo'd to F)
crazysoldierguy (report)
this song actually works a lot better if you capo the first fret and then play it as e, a, e, a, b. try the a and b as suspended chords though. sounds a lot better. the actual notes are f, Bbsus, and Csus

lyric positions are wrong? Or the chording format pushed the text off the line.
