LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS

That cool riff that underlines John's section of the song is played on
a keyboard instrument and is a little awkward to play on the guitar.
If you're stuck on playing it on a guitar, I recommend capoing on the
12th fret and playing the following (you could play this without the
capo--the riff would just be an octave lower). The chords that go a
long the riff are simple enough--just an A chord with a bass line
moving beneath it.

She's leaving home

[E]Wednesday [Bm]morning at [F#m]five o'clock as the [C#m]day begins[F#m]
[B11]Silently closing her [A]bedroom door
[B11]Leaving the note that she [A]hoped would say more
[E]She goes down[Bm]stairs to the [F#m]kitchen clutching a [C#m]handkerchief
[B11]Quietly turning the [B9]backdoor key
[B11]Stepping out[A]side she is [B7]free
[E]She (we gave her most of our lives)
Is leaving (sacrificed most of our lives)
Home  (We gave her [F#m]everything money could)
[C#m]She is leaving home after [F#m]living alone for so [C#m]many years

Father snores as his wife gets into her dressing gown,
Picks up the letter that's lying there.
Standing alone at the top of the stairs,
She breaks down and cries to her husband Daddy our baby's gone.
Why would she treat us so thoughtlessly?
How could she do this to me?

She (we never thought of ourselves)
Is leaving (never a thought for ourselves)
Home (we struggled hard all our lives to get by)
She's leaving home after living alone for so many years

[E]Friday [Bm]morning at [F#m]nine o'clock she is [C#m]far away
[B11]Waiting to keep the a[A]ppointment she made
[B11]Meeting a [A]man from the [B7]motor trade
She (what did we do that was wrong?)
Is having (we didn't know it was wrong)
Fun (fun is the one thing that money can't buy)

[C#m]Something inside that was [F#m]always denied for so [C#m]many year[F#m]s
[C#m]She's leaving [F#m]home   bye [A]bye   [E]

BEING FOR THE BENEFIT OF MR. KITE

For the be[Cm]nefit of Mr.[G] Kite
T[Bb]here will be a s[Dm]how tonight on tram[G]poline
The Hen[Cm]dersons will [G]all be there
L[Bb]ate of Pablo Fan[Dm]ques Fair- wh[A]at a scene!
Over [Dm]man and horses h[Dm/C]oops and garters
L[Bb]astly through a hogs[A7]head of real f[Dm]ire!
In this w[Bb]ay Mr. K[A]. will challenge the w[Dm]orld! [Gm]    [A7]    [Dm]    [G]

The celebrated Mr. K.
performs his feat on Saturday at Bishopsgate
The Hendersons will dance and sing
As Mr. Kite flies through the ring- don't be late!
Messrs. K. and H. assure the public
Their production will be second to none
And of co[Bb]urse Henry The Ho[A]rse dances the w[Dm]altz! [F+]    [C]   [A]
[Dm]   [F+]    [C]   [B]   [Em]             [G]
The band begins at ten to six
When Mr. K. performs his tricks without a sound
And Mr. H. will demonstrate
Ten summersets he'll undertake on solid ground

We've been some days in preparation
A splendid time is guaranteed for all
And tonight Mr. Kite is topping the bill!

Within You Without You

[C]Boy, this is a tricky one.  The whole song revolves around a droning C note
on the sitar, so there are no chord changes. If you happen to have a sitar,
maybe if you fiddle around a little you can pick out the tune - it's in the
key of C, obviously. For the rest of us, pick up that guitar, start strumming
open C, and sing what follows!

Verse:

We were talking
about the space between us all
and the people
who hide themselves behind a wall
of illusion
Never glimpse the truth,
then it's far too late
when they pass away.....

We were talking
about the love we all could share
when we find it
to try our best to hold it there
with our love
with our love we could save the world
if they only knew.....

"Chorus":

Try to realize it's all within your self,
no one else can make you change

And to see you're really only very small,
and life flows within in you and without you

Verse:

We were talking
about the love that's gone so cold
and the people
who gain the world and lose their soul
They don't know....
They can't see.....
Are you one of them

Coda:

When you've seen beyond yourself
then you may find, peace of mind,
is waiting there

And the time will come
when you see we're all one,
and life flows within you and without you

==========================================================================

WHEN I'M SIXTY-FOUR

The song is in C#. Not a good key for guitar. So I suggest capoing the
first fret and playing in C. If you're a purist, just move all the chords
up a half step.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

[G]          [Bm]         [Em]        [Em7]        [C]

[G]  I read the n[Bm]ews today oh [Em]boy,     [Em7]
[C]  About a l[Em]ucky man who [Asus2]made the grade.
[G]  And though the n[Bm]ews was rather [Em]sad,      [Em7]
[C]  Well I just h[F]ad to l[Em]augh,  [Em7]
[C]  I saw the p[F]hotograp[Em]h.     [C]
[G]  He blew his m[Bm]ind out in a [Em]car,     [Em7]
[C]  He didn't no[Em]tice that the [Asus2]lights had changed,
[G]  A crowd of p[Bm]eople stood and st[Em]ared,    [Em7]
[C]  They'd seen his f[F]ace before,
[Em]  Nobody was really sure if[Em7] he was from the House of Lo[C]rds.
[G] I saw a f[Bm]ilm today oh [Em]boy     [Em7]
[C] The English a[Em]rmy had just[Asus2] won the war
[G] A crowd of p[Bm]eople turned a[Em]way     [Em7]
[C] But I just h[F]ad to look
[Em] Having r[Em7]ead the b[C]ook
I'd love to t[Bm]urn     [Em]you  [Asus2]  on.... [Bm]
(Orchestral climax leading to an E chord)

Woke [E]up, fell out of bed, dragged a comb across my h[D]ead
Found my w[E]ay downstairs and dr[B]ank a cup
And lo[E]oking up, I not[B]iced I was late
Found my co[E]at and grabbed my hat, made the bus in seconds fl[D]at
Found my w[E]ay upstairs and had a sm[B]oke
And so[E]mebody spoke and I went into a dr[B]eam
A[C]ah ah ah a[G]h   Aah ah a[D]h  Ah a[A]h       [E]
A[C]ah ah ah a[G]h   Aah ah a[D]h  Ah a[A]h       [E]        [D]      [C]     [D]      [G]
[G]  I read the n[Bm]ews today oh b[Em]oy,     [Em7]
[C]  Four thousand h[Em]oles in Blackburn, La[Asus2]ncashire.
[G]  And though the h[Bm]oles were rather s[Em]mall,   [Em7]
[C]  They had to c[F]ount them all,
[Em]  Now they know how many holes it t[Em7]akes to fill the Albert H[C]all.
I'd love to t[Bm]urn     [Em]you  [Asus2]  on     [Bm]
(Orchestral climax leading to a massive E chord)
