I had this problem with my guitar and it turned out to be the pezio pickup. The crystal in it went bad. Changed the pezio and it was fine.

Assuming (I hate to do that) that he has humbucker pickups they might be to close to the strings and or maybe a dead string (or made bad). Let me know what you find.

cheers for the reply bootlegger,

It is a semi acoustic ( canny remember the make)

the strings were not hitting the frets at all and everything esle seemed to look alright on it.

I will find out tomorrow if he has changed his strings to see if that helped

What type of guitar is it, Acoustic or Electric? If your string is muted or duff as you say it may be to low and hitting the frets when it is strummed. On an acoustic add a little piece of paper (acting as a shim) to bring the string up or have a nut cut. (estimated around $25 to &30.00 american for parts & labor) If it is an electric you can raise the saddle height. If you have a wrap around bridge you have to do the same as the acoustic.

Not my problem here but one of my mates and I dont have a clue

on his guitar one of his strings ( I think it is his G string) sounds duff, it sound like it has been dampened when you play it.

It is not that old the string and everything looks ok.

One day is was fine the next it was not.

I dont think he has changed the string to see if the actual guitar is ok, but he no doubt will.

Anyone got any ideas for this duff sounding string
