Hi crevs,practice alot and be ready for the night,if there are two guitars most the time the other one will cover for a moment if you make a mistake.tell the other band members what you are feeling,they have been there. If you drink do not do to much it may mess you up, good luck!

The last few times I worked myself into a new band, I recorded their performance and played along at home with the recording and worked out all my solos at my leisure. Next rehearsal all we had to practice was my lead and backup vocal parts.

Well it was absolutely amazing, I was clearly punching well above my weight with regards to the standards of the other musicians and I was petrified. What made it a little more difficult was the fact they played mostly originals but I soon got the hang of it. I kept good time and once I found the groove it seemed like I was taken away somewhere else ! I learned more in 2 hours that I have in the last 6 months!

Even though I’m pretty green they seemed happy with everything and I got the place. Can’t wait for next week although I think I’m gonna need to show consistent, significant improvement especially towards the lead side of things but I’m more than happy with the pressure, it’s the direction that really seemed to be lacking in my playing!

Listen to what the others are playing, and keep your head up. Nothing frustrates me more than when I audition players and it is clear that they are more interested/engaged in what they sound like than what the rest of the group is doing.

Any band needs help with music or singing. If you can ease the load or enhance what they are trying to do, they need you.
You can listen to them and ascertain if what you do will fit in and/or reinforce their show.

Can't really believe I've actually done it but I've been invited along to jam with a band as they are looking for a 2nd guitarist. I'm petrified and excited! Any advice on what to do.. and what not to do?
