Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner--I was having some trouble with my account. I play acoustic and I'm trying to develop the stength and control to use more barre chords than just some of the more familiar, like Bm, F#maj or Gm. I'm not getting ahead too much right now, cuz I've been working more on finger-picking patterns than fretting, but someday! My brother (the Big Brother, aka "The Musical Genius"--plays piano, drums, bass, acoustic and electric guitar, harmonica, cello, the banjo, and he sings) uses barre chords a lot, but he's got these beautiful long fingers, plus they're incredibly strong because he's a rock climber.

Why is it listed on the album as No Diggity then? Were they trying to be clever?

Is my best to best activity playing to Acoustic guitar. And always cover with blackstreet and no diggity cover. It saves my guitar from dust. I like that..

OK, but why? What's the benefit or advantage to playing things as barre chords?

If you are using a chop rhythm, barre chords make it easier to mute all strings at the same time.

I think, that is a great piece of advice. If you already know a song in the first position, you don't have to relearn it, but it's a great way of prcticing those bar chords. Without bar chords, your guitar neck is too limmited.
Not so much your major chords, they are easy enough to play but the minor, major 7ths and minor 7ths. Also The patern of a chord progression can be used in any key.
