It's astounding what a competent luthier can do in terms of repairs.  Good luck.  That's a terrific instrument.

The idea of a techniques session would be fun, but I honestly don't know what I do so it will be hard to explain.  I'll try and figure out something with my video camera to see if I can get it on a tripod or something like that.  I think it will work as a web cam.  Then I'd be able to close in on my picking hand and/or fretting hand and maybe you could see what I do and tell me what it is.

It was fun guys.  Sorry I had to drop out early.  The real reason is that I don't know any fun songs.  Only horribly depressing songs.

Having a situation with a child who needs an attitude adjustment this weekend, and I'm just the grouchy old son-of-a-sea-cook to give it to her.  I'm not sure how the day's going to play out, but if I can be on I will be on.

It's already started.  She was told to bring her laundry hamper down to the laundry room yesterday.  She didn't.  Her clothes from last week still aren't in her drawers, and some of her dirty laundry is on the floor instead of in the hamper.  So laundry is sorted and going through the machines without hers among it.  She will have to do her own this week, or wear stinking clothes to school and suffer the teasing.

About two days, but it gets less frequent.  Nylon strings stretch a lot.

Haven't heard anything.  I'm almost always up for a 1:1 session, but I haven't got the Premium membership yet.

Saturday evening would be best for me if anyone cares, if I'm not at the nearby lake doing a little fishing.  Friday and Sunday have family plans.

Let us know how it works out for you.

ChordPro is one that will do it.  Hopefully some more informative posts will follow telling you how.

That's why I started guitar, Pete.  When I was in a band, it was fun.  But playing bass to CD's just doesn't have the same creative spark.  It's terrific practice, but for me it just didn't feel like making music.

Voice is just a matter of practice, same as any other musical endeavor.  This guy's lessons are in small, easy to follow bits, and if you do what he says your singing will improve.  I also enjoy is wry sense of humor.  I have no connection with him except having watched his videos and having them work for me.

So some Neil Young is in order.

My home town had an art show downtown today.  It's an 18th century downtown of the classic two main streets meeting in the center of town.  Very quaint.  They closed the streets off and put up an art show.  It's a gorgeous late summer day here - gentle breeze, modest temps, blue skies.  The kids are off playing with friends, so my wife and I took a little alone time to walk down and check it out.  What a pleasant surprise!  There were about fifty vendors of all sorts of art, mostly fine art styles but a few folk art items as well.  The photography blew me away and has really challenged me to make a more sincere effort at making art rather than just shooting snapshots.

If you're interested in seeing some of my photos, let me know.  I don't have an artsy fartsy gallery set up, but I'm thinking I need to work on that.  My snapshots are here: http://zurf.smugmug.com/

I can sing and play guitar, but I cannot sing and play bass.  Of course, I don't memorize bass lines, I just kind of riff the whole time.  So maybe if I actually knew what I was going to play next it might help.

Still, Joey, you really should give it a go.

You'd fit right in.

We can make this work somehow.

Why don't you sing?  That's how Phil Collins got his start with singing.  The band couldn't find anybody they liked and they had a show to do.  So Phil sang the show and because the new lead singer from behind the drums.  I still don't know how drummers and bassists can sing and play, but they do.

I've always heard drop tuning to mean dropping one or more of the strings.  Drop D has consistently been used to refer to standard tuning, with the exception of dropping the low E string to a low D.  Double drop d would lower the upper e strong to d.
