Hey! I've got a noob question re: PA system.  I have a Carvin StageMate S400D -- a small PA.

Spec sheet indicates 60 watts RMS @ 8 ohms.   100 Watts RMS @ 4 ohms (with 8 ohm extension speaker).

http://www.carvinguitars.com/manuals/76 … 00-web.pdf

The Carvin extension speaker is $200 and am wondering if I can instead get something more affordable.  Should I be looking strictly for 100 Watts @ 8 ohm extension speaker?

Any insight and/or recommendations on more affordable extension cab speaker are greatly appreciated.  Thanks!!

I haven't played much bass -- how many different effects are there for bass?

Thanks for the input.   My thinking with "going small" is running the amp into the PA system.   (Plus, the less heavy gear the better.)  I know Carvin makes a micro bass amp that's about 30 lbs. as well.

I dabble in bass and am looking for any suggestions on a small bass amp (bonus for lightweight) with direct out.  I've read good things about the SansAmp DI thing.   Thanks.

One thing I didn't think about is the Vendetta has ferrules in a sort of upside V configuration.  Could that throw a monkey wrench into using a different style headstock?

Just curious if anyone has ever added a piezo bridge to an electric guitar -- especially curious about the tune o matic piezo?

Saw one for 40 bucks on ebay and some LR Baggs for 170.

Yes, I checked with Dean and they said the Avalanche models should be interchangeable with the Vendetta.   Thinking about getting the Avalanche Deluxe for the single coils and neck w/ six in line headstock, then doing some swapping.   The Vendetta's Paulownia body is super light!! Plus is like the sustain with the tune o matic bridge.  Guess this could be a FrankenDean!!

Bought a used Dean Vendetta (XM model, I believe -- no Floyd Rose) for 50 bucks and have been pleasantly surprised with it.  Raised the bridge and primarily use it for playing slide. Super lightweight guitar.

I actually prefer the six inline headstock and am thinking about swapping the current Vendetta neck with one of their Avalanche models (strat/tele style).

Looks like the Avalanches and Vendettas have the same neck specs.  Could it be that easy to swap one for another?  Anyone know of other necks that could be swapped?

Do you ever have any trouble finding a spot or a way to hang them?

Does yours hang from the wall or did you buy a stand?

Just wondering if anyone has experience/recommendations on buying a printed banner.  Are these useful...hard to hang, etc.? Thanks.

Looking for basic info on improving sound dynamics in a 4 piece rock band setting.  Everyone playing at 100 mph and turned up to "11" all night is not good for that.  Would also welcome info on basic dynaimcs re: singing. Thanks!

Any thoughts on a Nook HD or a Kindle Fire for lyrics on stage?  More specifically, does anyone use a specific app that's equivalent to Microsoft Word?

I'm looking for approximately a 9 inch screen that is easy to use and won't break the bank.

I have a tablet holder for my mic stand, but my old HD tablet bit the dust.  Thanks!

Van Morrison is one my favorite singers.  We were talking about doing Wild Night before we changed bass players.

Thanks, Dino.  I learned the song during the Unplugged craze -- Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney both recorded versions of SF Bay Blues.

Is the UG app easy to read?

Hello, Chordie People!  I traded an old guitar for an HP tablet computer.  My goal is to use the tablet as a lyric/chord cheat sheet on stage while clipped to a mic stand.

I'm looking for suggestions on how to get lyrics onto tablet -- scan them?, manually type them?,  use Android app of some sort?

Also, looking for suggestions on a tablet holder/iKlip device.   Thanks!!

Aren't you supposed to use a passive/non-powered mixer with any sort of powered PA (like Carvin stagemate)?

Thanks for the suggestions.  Any recommendations on a budget unpowered mixer?

I host band practice at my house and we're itching to record something to market for gigs.
We're a 4 piece band: 2 guitars/vocals, bass, and drums and practice in a small room with decent acoustics.

As far as recording equipment, I usually run vocals through a Carvin Stagemate and everyone plays through their own amps.  So far, we've recorded by using my one mic into Audacity through a Blue Icicle usb connector.  Sound wasn't great.

Here's my REAL question.  What are thoughts about buying a second Blue Icicle mic?  I was thinking of possibly trying to record bass/drums together, and putting everything else into a separate, but simultaneous recording (both in Audacity).

Also, we're about 50/50 acoustic and electric: Feel A Whole Lot Better (Byrds), SF Bay Blues (Clapton version), The Last Time (Stones), Little Sister (Elvis).  Thanks!!!

Thanks.  Seems to go from A to E, then F#m.  Haven't worked it all out.  Started playing the F#m pentatonic over it.

This song popped into my head the the other day.  Is this in the key of A?
