Thanks Joe - I just checked and get the same error.  I'll get that one reported too!  smile

rhino two - It looks like folks are having issues getting songs to download with the full chordpro fromatting, and I'll presume that's what your program uses as well.  I've reported this and we'll update when we get some answers about this.  Thank you for reporting it!!  smile

Flashdrive - I wasn't able to download the app for my iPhone, as it's a pay app, and I don't really want to pay for it.  LOL!  I've used the free version on the computer in the past though, so I have a clue how it works.  Regardless, it looks like - from what Rhino Two has said - this is probably not just an app issue, but rather a download formatting issue.  So we'll get this reported!  smile

I was looking up songs last night,, 50% of what I  looked up had almost everything removed. Honestly I got so fed up I went to Ultimate Guitar to find what I was looking for.  Aside from the forum I am not happy at all with the changes. songs missing words and chord or tab, Post missing edit  key,   honestly, if the songs you want show up with just 2 lines what good is it?  Some songs have it all some don't, I looked through a whole artist, almost all songs have 2 lines and some silly statement about chordie being a whatever server.    this time around UG is better for finding stuff.   As I said, NOT THRILLED AT ALL.

Hey Scott!  It's good to hear honest feedback, so thanks for that.  As I think you know, the songs found "on Chordie" are not actually located "on Chordie's servers" - so it's entirely possible that the original location of the songs that you're finding simply do not have all the information in them (and therefore, all the information won't be here to view on Chordie OR on the website that the information is being pulled from).  It's kind of a tricky thing, and no one at Chordie can make the other website's information appear if it's not there.

Can you provide some examples so we can look into it further?  It may simply be that those pages Chordie's getting the info from need to be removed, and replaced with information obtained from different, better, more complete locations instead.  It's possible it could be a coding issue on Chordie though.  Either way, it's difficult to fix it if there's no example of what needs to be fixed.  sad

As for the forums - the edit button shouldn't be missing. It was for a short time, but it's been back for days now.  If you still can't see it, you probably need to clear your browser's cache to ensure you're seeing everything, and not an old version of the page that your computer has saved.  I've explained in a few different threads how to do this, but if you need help, let me know and I'll post it again.  smile

The log in issue should be resolved now.  Sorry about the frustration, and thank you to everyone that reported it!  That made the fix much quicker!  smile

If you're still having issues with missing songbooks, let us know!

Thanks for the response MKM.  I can tell you that I had already tried copying and pasting from Chordie into the Songbook Pro app and it pasted the text with chords within the text and not formatted.  Thanks for the tip on the view feature.  I tried importing in all views and came up with the same issue - a song that had lyrics, chords, and guitar tab only showed the guitar tab (fingering chart) at the beginning of the song.
I have sent an inquiry to linksoft to ask about this issue.   If I get a helpful answer I'll relay it here.  Cheers.

I'm going to try downloading that on my iPhone and see if I can figure anything out as well.  smile  If not... then I'll see if the Admin has any ideas!  smile

I'm home all day today and poking around. I found feature I never noticed.
I went to the Home page then clicked on a "top 20". Clicked on  "Brown Eyed Girl" and discovered there is a Jango link so you can listen to the song. I hit it, Jango opened, but played Monty Python's "Bright Side Of Life".
I don't know if it's a problem with chordie,  Jango or me.
Just wanted to make someone aware of it.

I did the same, and saw a message on Jango's site, "We couldn't find BROWN EYED GIRL Van Morrison  ,
but you can choose from 800+ Genre Stations, search for 1 Million+ artists, or browse music"  -- yet a search shows that it is on there.  I think it's the "  ," it couldn't read. I tried with a bunch others and didn't have a lot of luck.  Seems the correct info isn't getting input into Jango's search.  sad  Thanks for bringing it up, Joe!  It did seem to work properly the other day.  I'll report that.

LOG IN ISSUES

YAY for log in bugs being resolved!  Whooo hooo!  smile

Separate query:    Also (although I suspect this is not the correct forum thread to ask this question) I am wondering why the "login" option is not on the home page?  I am only able to see "login" when I click under the following tabs "My songbook"; "Resources" or "Forum"

At the moment, it's only on those pages. The suggestion to place it on a few other pages as well has come up.  I'm not sure what the plans are though.

smile  Thank you!  The fact that you re-recorded this for me, and I adore this song, is enough to get my eyes all teary.

It's still a million times better than I could do.  Thank you again.

Hate the new format. Wasn't broke, why change it?

As UJB said, it did need some fixing behind the scenes.  A lot of work went to the changes made, and there are still some tweaks on going.  I'm sorry to hear you don't like it though.  Can you provide some more feedback as to what you don't like specifically?  Most people around the forums have been saying they find it easier to navigate the site now, find songs they're looking for, and that the site/songs are easier to read.

Perhaps it's a matter of "change" in general that you don't like?  Obviously there are quite a few things that are different, and that's not always easy.  Do let us know though.  Even if it's negative, constructive feedback is always welcome.  smile

Brrrrrrrrr....

Joe - your snow didn't MELT down there?  We had beautiful green grass and the kids were bouncing on the trampoline the other day.  We've got snow again though today.  sad

TF - I hear ya!  I'm trying NOT to complain, because it's nothing like the last few years.  It's really been a very mild winter!  All the same, I wish it wouldn't snow on the days I HAVE to be on the road.  LOL!

Hi Folks,  I'm hoping someone can answer some questions for me.  I was using the Songbook Pro app on my iPad and importing various songs into the app.  But since the changes to the site I am not able to import the songs formatted as they were in the past.  Instead I am getting just text with chords interlaced in the text but not formatted.  Or, in other cases I am just getting guitar tabs, or dotted lines, even though the song appears fine on the chordie site.

I'm relatively naive and new about these things so maybe I am missing something obvious.  Thanks!

I'm not familiar with the app on iOS, but my guess is that it's not reading the Chordpro formatting.  Can you try changing the song's VIEW (click the eye then choose chordpro) before import if that's an option?  If not, this is good information to know and may be a bug.  In the meantime, there are other ways around it (like viewing the chordpro version and copying the text then pasting it into a new song file inside Songbook Pro).  Let us know how this works out for you using the different view please!  smile

Here's a picture for reference, the little eye image would be on the right hand side of the screen in standard desktop view, but may be in a different location on a mobile device or using the Songbook App.

If someone could educate me on how to take a screen shot I will post it.

I have seen this as well.  I'll make sure it's noted!  Thanks Joe!!!  smile

Someone else mentioned about some of the poetry being chopped short, so I had a look through some that I'd posted. Sure enough, most of them are cropped to only a few lines. Are they gone beyond recovery? If so, they can be re-posted at the original place.

Restoring truncated posts is on the to-do list!  smile However, if you'd like to edit a post you've made in the past, or simply post a reply on your thread with the full poem, you are absolutely welcome to do so!  smile

Formatting your posts with BBCode

OK, so we need to spice things up around here a little more!  Here's some BBCode to get you going!  Today is about all the stuff you type and how to make it look more interesting on the forums.  smile

Bold, Italic, Colors, and Headings.  Not all color names work, but generally HEX Values do!
This is a decent resource for finding color hex values:  http://www.w3schools.com/colors/colors_picker.asp
Simply pick a color, and copy the hex value you like that starts with the # sign and place it in the code as shown below.

[b]Bold text[/b]
[i]Italic text[/i]
[color=red]Red text[/color]
[color=blue]Blue text[/color]
[color=#ff7ba3]This one is using a pink Hex Code Value[/color]
[h]Heading text[/h]

And here's what it will look like when you type it into the forums:

Bold text
Italic text
Red text
Blue text
This one is using a pink Hex Code Value

Heading text

There you have it, go make your stuff look good now!

Hey Bill, hopefully you're subscribed to this thread and will receive notification in your inbox.  Chordie has undergone some changes while you've been away, and many of us have been very busy getting her all straightened out.  As things are now starting to calm down around here a little, I was thinking... HEY, where's BILL?  I expected to see you around here, confused and excited over the changes.  You haven't been though... and so I'm concerned about you and your loving Dondra.  I think about you both often, and sincerely hope you are both well.

I did notice that you HAVE logged in recently... I hope you pop into the forums and say HI soon!  smile  HUGS!

PHONE?  You know that you need to bring a proper recording device with you next time right?  big_smile  Do you have a little portable recorder?  If not, then you should put that on your wish list.  I don't use mine as often as I should, but when I do actually record stuff with it - it makes me play better.  Not because it's running mind you, but because I can then listen to the recording and hear what others are hearing and FIX at least some of the terrible mistakes I make.

all the songs in my songbook are fine - all the words - all the chords - Chord pro format

none of the songs I had on the songwriter forum that were in chordpro format are there intact - only a few lines and then they are cut off and not in the chordie pro format

I know you guys are working hard to resolve bugs, but I just want to know if you can tell me if there is going to be a recovery of the songs in songwriting or not.

Hey Jim!  I thought I answered this in another thread, but yes, to the best of my knowledge, this IS on the list!  smile

I can see my songbook in the drop down list but when I click it I get this message:

Private Songbook
You did try to access a songbook owned by somebody else.

If you got this link from somebody you know, please contact that person to ask if he/she can make this book public.

- It used to be Public. Don't know how to change it. Even if it was private, shouldn't it still let me see the songs?

Yes, if the songbook has been saved to your profile, even if it's private YOU should still be able to view it. Let's try some quick troubleshooting!  Sign out of Chordie and close all open browser windows and tabs, then open your browser back up and clear the cache.  Then try coming back into Chordie, sign in again, and see if you are now able to access that songbook.  If you continue to get the error, let us know and we can submit this as a possible bug.  I'm curious as well, if you're still getting that error, do you have other books saved that you ARE able to view?  smile

Yeah, if using Internet Explorer, you'll need to have at LEAST IE 9.  Sounds like you're using an older computer if there's stuff missing in order to do the upgrade.  At least Firefox is working for you though!  Are you finding the new Chordie easier to use than before?  smile

Hey Scott... I merged your New thread in Chat Corner into this one - to prevent having rogue threads lying around.  I see that it didn't keep your topic intact though, so your post now doesn't make tons of sense.  sad  SORRY!

What Scott was saying is that he POSTED a link to the SOUND file for the JAM session over in MY LOCAL BAND AND ME!
Go have a listen.  cool Go, go, go! cool

I remember seeing this post a few weeks ago and meaning to come back in here to listen and comment.  I'm so glad it's still here, and you didn't remove the recording.  smile  That's such a beautiful song, and tends to make me cry... thinking about that whole, what if Heaven is there and do little kids grow up or just stay little and would they be living a whole different life like some other dimension and even remember us?  Well, anyway, that's what I hear when I listen to this song.  It is a DIFFICULT song to play.  There's no way I could do it justice!  I think you've done it quite well.

If you have been practicing it since this was posted, I'd love to hear a new recording all polished up!  smile

Hey Scott!  I finally got a few minutes to peruse a few of the forums, and found THIS!  smile  I thought you would be posting the link up on your other thread over in the chat corner and was waiting to see it there.  The recording is a little fuzzy, so I put my headphones on, and that helped quite a bit.  I don't know much about playing in a band or lead guitar, but ... for a group of guys that hasn't had much time to play around together, it doesn't sound too bad!  smile  IN FACT, there were a few moments in there were it sounded quite GOOD!

Thank you for sharing this with us!  You might want to post a link in your chat thread over to this thread for anyone looking for your sound file.

Use Firefox for Chordie, same settings as I have always had, but now some windows open in a new tab.

The 'Home'  'Songs'  'Artists'  'Public books' etc buttons all work normally, usually when you click to got to a song.

The only thing I'm seeing that opens up a new tab is when I click a link that takes me outside of Chordie.  For example, when inside a song, clicking on the Jango player will open it in a new tab.  This is intentional, so you don't lose your place on Chordie.  However, I'm pretty sure every link that brings you to another page within Chordie.com SHOULD open in the same tab.

While you're moving around on the site, if you find a link that opens up a new tab and you think it shouldn't, can you please copy the URL page that you were at, as well as the URL page that opened up and paste them into a reply on the forum?  That way, we can track down any rogue links opening up new tabs and get it fixed.  smile

You may just want to double check your settings though in Firefox, to be sure it's not your browser settings.  This page should help: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/st … d-settings
