Concentrate on beginings and endings a disaster in the middle can often be covered up .
We don't play out but the trio that I play with usually has one person start the song with a chord or a couple notes then the other 2 jump in. Everyone ending together can be tricky in the beginning but after playing together for awhile you can start reading signals from each other.
If you watched the videos we made at the Pa gathering you might have noticed that I got lost in the middle of a couple of the songs. But the other people that were playing kept going and I caught up. Most folks never noticed.
Jackson Hole is awesome - I was there last year ! Fireart is most fortunate to live there!! It might seem like a whole lot of nothing because you are looking for the wrong things
Unclejoe - how did you make this map... pretty cool.
Oh don't get me wrong, that looks like my kind of place. I have friends in NW Montana and would probably consider living there, but winter across the northern tier of the US is more than I would want to deal with. I like having a good, solid 5 month growing season. ![]()
Anyone can create a map. Follow the link below. Click on "create map". Or you can click on "take a tour" and get step by step instructions.

As this thread grows to multiple pages, I'm going to start putting a link to the chordie map on every page. That way folks won't have to go back to page one to find it.
Josh Jackson hole wy
WOW! There's a whole lot of nothing there. My kinda place if it wasn't for the 8 months of winter.
Maybe some kind Mod could make this a sticky so it doesn't get buried over time.
You're in Jandle.
Bill, I already new where you are (roughly) so you were in yesterday.
We're up to 20.
ETA: Link
I also bought a stand that holds 5 more guitars. I wonder if I will get any use out of that?? LOL
Maybe a rack built into a wall with a sliding glass door. OK, maybe 3-4 sliding glass doors.
Done, done and done. ![]()
17 so far. I'll add others as they respond.
I would love to know how many nations are represented on Chordie? Maybe if anyone reading this could please reply to this post with a simple response... I would be thankful... I only need a rough indication not an exact.
Here you go Peatle.
I created a map with markers for the members that have responded so far and a couple that I knew but haven't responded yet.
Don't believe I've ever seen your post but I'll say HI, and welcome back. ![]()
None of that makes a lick of sense to me, but I'm happy because you're happy.
Well at least I don't feel so ignorant now.
Happy "peddle"?? day.
Happy new guitar day jjj. when are you opening your guitar store?
A store? I'm thinking we're bordering on warehouse status here.
Happy New Guitar Day.
Joe. Pennsylvania, USA.
150 watts, enjoy it but be careful not to blow the windows out.
I was thinking he was going to set it up on the back porch and play for the entire peninsula. ![]()
Happy new amp day.
After listening to End of the Line a few times, I decided I needed to learn it.
Thanks for the inspiration Bill. ![]()
3. Finally, the group as a whole takes turns on lead vocals with the song "End Of The Line". As one hears each of the Wilburys' philosophy about the end of it all and how each hopes they'll leave the world a better place than when they found it, I just couldn't help but think of my own life and if I'll be as "satisfied" as Messrs. Dylan, Harrison, Lynne, Orbison and Petty describe with their words and music.
If you haven't seen it, or even if you have, watch this video. It was made about 6 months after the album was released as a tribute to Roy Orbison who had died suddenly. Watch the video closely at 1:40 and 2:00. They set up a rocking chair and had his guitar sitting in it.
Just how big is your house??!!
Happy NGD.
Oh my you guys all rock!!!! I watched the videos and awesome to see you all having a blast! The beauty of music aye?! Oh how I wish me and my (dare I say little ukulele) could join you folk over there in America
So awesome, thanks for sharing........found myself singing along
Thanks Jandle. Yeah, We had a great time.
Maybe you can hitch a ride with normtheguitar next time he hops across the pond for one of these shindigs. And by all means, bring the uke. It fits in the overhead. ![]()
It's pretty common to get notifications like that from Youtube. I think that's their way around the whole copyright issue... a while ago, they were taking videos DOWN when it contained copyright material (which was pretty tricky since MOST videos on YT have something in there that's copyright). I guess if you have purchased the rights to perform the song, you could fight it to keep the ads off. I don't have a problem with the ads myself, it's fair IMO.
I never gave it any thought. I have the same song on my other channel and didn't get that notice.
I don't have a problem with ads either. You're absolutely right. It only seems fair. It's not my song.
Welcome John.
Like you and many others here, my guitars took a 20 year dust nap while the kids were growing up. I started playing again 2 years ago and I'm so glad I did. I play pretty much every day now.
Never tried any alternate tuning. I'll have to pay attention to some of the conversations relating to it.
Thanks.
I watched it on YouTube tonight and discovered I included the same picture of Jim (MKD) twice. Oh well. Too Late to change it now.
On another note.
I received this notice from YouTube today:
Ads might appear on your video.
Copyrighted content was found in your video.
The claimant is allowing their content to be used in your YouTube video.
However, ads might appear on it.
It appears that whoever owns the rights to "City of New Orleans" feels there is revenue potential so they have monetized it. I don't see it going viral and generating a lot of money for them but they have the right to put ads in it. More power to 'em.
I started going through some of the more popular songs that YouTube lists as copyrighted and found that one of Amy's songs, "Dear Future Husband", is pretty high up in the list. I'm guessing sooner or later I'll get a notice on that one as well. Guess we'll find out.
I finished the slideshow tonight as I watched my Mets take a beating from Kansas City.
This is my first attempt at this kind of techno stuff. It seems OK to me but I'll let you folks decide.
Strange, the file must have got bunked up when it was uploaded to the computer. I'm glad the SD card had the original intact! Glad it worked after all. At least you can play with the slideshow portion of the software now.
Yeah, the congas did overpower a little. Didn't JIm or someone say something about putting a pillow in the bottom to muffle them a little? That might work. You'll have to play around with that during your group sessions.
Yeah, someone did mention pillows; might have been Jim. I don't really remember.
I got the slideshow put together last night, added the audio, but when I tried to upload it YT said the file format wasn't supported. I gotta look into that today. This stuff is all new to me.
OK. I got the last video up. Actually I had it up but there was something wrong with it. It just froze with about 30 seconds left. The new version is up now.
Amy, I ran it through the movie maker software you suggested. Went it was finished uploading to YouTube I watched it and discovered the end of it was bad. I went back and watched it in the Movie Maker program and the problem was there too. So I then went to the original file on the SD card and there was nothing wrong with it. I ended up just uploading it right from the card and it came out clean.
This is it.

Something I took notice to in all the vids where the drums were used; they really overpowered everything else. For future sessions with drums I'll need to arrange things a little differently, maybe muffle the drums a bit.
Now that the videos are up I want to work on a slide show with the still photos.
I kinda forgot about this. ![]()
I bought 3 each of B & E to have available for our get together a few weeks ago. I didn't want to see anyone have to break into a full set if they should break one. The closest place to the camp to get strings is 50 miles away. Turned out they weren't needed but I had them just in case.
That's a gorgeous guitar your friend has, Roger. I wouldn't want to guess how many hours it took to do all of the inlay work ... incredible.
Would you like to take a stab at how many hours were spent on the inlay work of this D-100?

WOW! Beautiful!
Looking at the first pic with all the inlay I immediately thought it was a D-45 with a 5 digit price tag. Scrolled down and saw the D-41 so I was close.
I don't think I'll ever be able to justify that kind of jingle for a guitar but they sure are purrty to look at.
