Don't understand why you can't see it. I can. Can anyone else see it.
No. Not my B-Day. It's a cake for you. ![]()

So as not to appear to show favoritism towards Dino...............

Let me add mine too!

Not much else to say other than what's been said above so I'll just say HI. Welcome to chordie.
Another aging Baby Boomer here. I too put away the guitar; for nearly 20 years. Pulled it back out 2 years ago. Now I have it out almost every night.
the community is welcoming, friendly and comfortable, dare I say almost "homey".
Yes you may, because it's a very accurate statement. ![]()
As a real amateur, I wasn't sure how well I would be accepted around all these Pro/Semi-Pro musicians. My concerns were quickly put to rest. It is quite "homey" around here. I've even met two chordians in person. Good folks.
WOW! So sorry to hear this.
Lots of rest and you'll up and dancing before you know it. ![]()
Thanks TF.
Happy Independence Day.
Hope you folks from the island across the pond aren't still mad at us. ![]()
OK. It's official. It will be the weekend of October 9, 10, 11.
I'll be taking off work on Thursday the 8th to start getting things ready. Local folks will be coming on Saturday the 10th.
This place is in the middle of nowhere so there is very little else to do. Zurf, you think Altoona is close to nothing? You ain't seen nothing yet.
However......There is one event going on that weekend that may interest folks that carry a fondness for the "Good Ole Days" of steam engines and the horse drawn farming era.
http://svheritagedays.com/ It's about 5 miles away and runs all three days.
For the specific location, email me.

We usually visit the Greek islands, but the way their economy is going I'm not to sure. How are things back in Crete Graham, have you heard anything?
I heard on the news Greece is only allowing people to take out 60 euros a day and the banks are closed for a week.
I haven't seen anything tonight but as of this morning they're working on some kind of new bailout deal.
whereas Canada remained under limited political control of London until 1982 when it became a fully independent Nation.
WOW! I did not know that. Thanks for the history lesson.
Shucking and silking is learned at a very early age around here.
Ain't that the truth! Kinda of a right of passage. When you're asked to help shuck corn, you know you're a big boy/girl.
Missed a few fixes, work|||

Happy Canada Day!
But if I may I'd like to sheepishly inquire/confirm; Does Canada Day fall into the same category as Independence Day here in the States?
I was pretty quiet for awhile when I first joined. I felt that most of the regular posters were pro or semi-pro. Now I know they are but it doesn't seem to matter. There's a very friendly group here and I'm looking forward to meeting a few more this year.
RUN AWAY!! RUN AWAY!!
Haven't got a clue what shucking & silking is. Just get yourself right NELA.
Peeling the husk off the corn and then picking the silk strands off of it. If you're good, you can get most of the silk off with the husk. ![]()
And to add to that I gonna gave 5 rows of sweet corn ready to pick and put up this weekend. Gotta be picked, shucked, silked, cut off the cobb, cobb scrapped to get all the juice, blanched. packaged and put in the freezer. Anybody wanna help (on halves?). Gonna be about 1000 ears (+ / -)
Nela
That's a lot of corn! The most we ever had to process at one time was around 30 dozen. We froze half and canned the other half. It's a lot of work. But when winter rolls around and all I have to do is go to the basement for dinner, it tastes soooooooo good.
Unfortunately 1200 miles is a bit far to travel or I'd certainly give you a hand.
Best wishes for a quick and easy operation.
I was hoping to enjoy this Sunday, but it looks like more rain.
Probably the same system that is forecast to dump 2"-3" of rain on us tomorrow. The streams are already running high so a Flash Flood Warning has already been issued. It's moving into the Pittsburgh area now so by early morning we'll be getting drenched.
It rarely snows here in October unless you're close Lake Erie. Just like in Buffalo, storms come across the lake, pick up moisture and dump it in NW Pa. By the time they get across the mountains they've pretty much been squeezed dry. We did have a freak October storm in 2011. Leaves were still on the trees. What a mess! But typically our first snow doesn't hit until December; sometimes even January.
the docs won't clear me to drive for at least a month.
And the Doc usually knows what's best.
Let it heal. Work it back into shape. You'll be ready to drive to New York in August. ![]()
This is a great place to ask a question like that! Like asking the drivers at the Indy 500 if they'd like a faster car.

I'm glad to hear a few of you had a good time, despite the weather!
I hope your tent held up better than Zurf's awning, with you in it UJB! I recall camping in a particularly nasty storm with the hubster one year. We were good, but our friends gave up on us and went to a motel in the middle of the night. Tent stakes, waterproofing, tarps, and blow up mattresses make a huge difference to staying dry sometimes.
That's a good story for another day though.
There's a story behind my tent too.
Early last week we had a few potent storms blow through here. One of them picked up a piece of metal roofing destined for the chicken coop. It sliced right through my tent which I had set up to air out for this weekend. I went out a bought a new one on Thursday but didn't get a chance to set it up. So it was set up for the first time right where you see it. It stood there, staked down of course, right through the storm and didn't have a single drop of water in it until I opened it up and water ran off the door on to the floor. I was impressed.
Sounds to me like it's time to go fishing. ![]()
Sounds like an excellent excuse for a second acoustic. Besides, everyone should have at LEAST two.
Or 6. ![]()
ETA - I snore in the key of E sharp - next time plan your songs around it.

Had my first get together with a couple Chordians outside of cyberspace yesterday.
Zurf and Topdown spent a few days at a campground this weekend and I joined them on Saturday afternoon. They were out when I arrived so I set up my tent and sat down with my guitar to wait. A couple hours later they rolled in wondering who the heck was sitting in their campsite; since we'd never actually met. Had some friendly hello's and nice to meet you's. One of Zurf's local friends got the campfire going, we set up chairs around it, and started pickin. I think we made it twice around the circle when it started to sprinkle. We decided to move things into Zurf's camper before the rain got too heavy. Turned out to be a VERY wise move because we weren't inside for more than 10 minutes when "Bill" hit with a vengeance. Heavy rain with tropical storm winds were soon pummeling us. The wind tore the awning off Zurf's camper and broke a few tree limbs, one of which fell on Topdown's rental car putting a dent in the top of the quarter panel and breaking a tail light. ( How did the rental company take it TD?)
But we played on, ignoring the raging storm outside. Topdown called it a night around 12:30 and was sleeping before his head hit the pillow. But Zurf and I played a little longer with Topdown snoring, out of key I might add((sorry TD, I had to
), just a few feet away. I guess it was in the 1:00-1:30 area when we called it a night. Everyone was up by 7:00 this morning and picking up the pieces.
All things considered we had a really good time and I look forward to meeting more Chordians later this year; hopefully without a tropical storm intruding. ![]()

Here's a few pics.
Our happy little weekend home not long after I arrived and got set up.
Assessing the damage during a brief lull in the storm.
