Re: Mixcraft (9 replies, posted in Recording)
Well Howdy, First off is this something you are planning to do a lot of? Also have you experience with other DAW software applications?
The reason I'm asking is that if it is only an occasional thing and we are talking about recording and sending a few tracks for mixing elsewhere, I'm wondering why you would want to invest $$ in a program when there are other options that are free?
From what I read about Mixcraft, it can import a wide range of audio formats to be incorporated into a project within it's application, so something like Reaper or even Audacity would suffice for most uses without the learning curve and investment.
Just my $.02

Not working for me at this time, but I think there is some work being done on the software and we might see a few glitches until it's all complete.
Either way it is good to have it mentioned, so it can be checked.
Thanks for Posting.

I've got the same thing Bluejeep. Perhaps admin is fiddling with something?
Chordie was down from a bit after midnight GMT and over a span of 5+ hours, so I expect there is a little upkeep in progress.

Well Jerome, you called that one for sure..... but with the "Peoples'" record not much of a surprise. But if the Hawks had lost..... Honor would have dictated that we all fall on our own pizza-cutters out of shame.

Howdy Rivercruzin and another hearty Welcome To Chordie!!
Generally we are a pretty friendly bunch, many of us with our "geezer" showing (not kids anymore)....but man I gotta warn ya about improper use of language so's we don't get off on the wrong foot. What's got me concerned is that "O" word you introduced yourself with..... Should'a been 72 years young!
Some may be "worldly" or "experienced", or "novice" or "noobie"..... we all hang out and get along because of our common interest in music and just plain getting passable at strummin' a few tunes, and everybody helps everybody along that road. We have all been where you are right now and truly wish that something like Chordie was available back then.
Step right in, get to know the community and hang on, it's a fun ride!

Re: disappearing songs (5 replies, posted in About Chordie)
Hi Brian, first I've hard about this problem. Are we talking about songs you have recently added, or some that have been stored in your book for awhile? If it's older material it is possible that the url of the file has been moved and the index you saved is not valid anymore, if it's new stuff there may be a problem that we can look into at this end.

Re: New fret on my guitar doesn't look new... (11 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
You can physically measure the strings using a vernier caliper of the digital kind. Just remember to choose inches for the purpose, although they will also read out in mm. If you can actually "see" the difference between .009 and .010 .... your eyes are much better calibrated than mine, it's only a thousandth of an inch.
Both would be considered Light or Extra Light strings.... and "bend" really easily. You can get too thin as well as too thick. For example the "nut" is cut to a given width for the string "guage" (with a little room of +/- a couple thousandths) and if you go too small, the string can actually "rattle" in the gap sounding very much like fret buzz. Particularly noticeable on necks without a "zero fret". Could be a bit of that "metallic" sound you describe.

Found The Dismemberment Plan..... but did not find Superpowers.
Either way you did this just right, but there is not a lot out there to find, or at least not a lot of their stuff tabbed out. Don't give up though there are a bunch of us out here and someone might have it in their music collection.

Yeah Curt, sounds like your Luthier did not finish the job. That fret still needs to be crowned.
As for your Mexican Strat...... they have a reputation of being fine instruments. Usually of better sound & quality than some of the USA models in the same price range. I'd consider keeping it until you are able to be sure that the one you have to replace it is worth keeping.

Well then we are practically neighbors!! For you folks in the East or perhaps on the other side of the pond...... I used to think nothing of driving down to Alturas on Friday after work to have a sip of Brandy with my Mom & Dad before bedtime. Yeah I'd stay for most of the weekend, but it's only 307 miles (c, 600Km) to Mom's front porch.
It's a pretty drive over to McCloud from there but rough under a foot of snow! Ricky, you dodged the Weed inferno in good shape I expect.
We West side Chordians are a wee bit apart it seems.
Thanks;

Re: Can't figure it out!. (11 replies, posted in Song requests)
OK Nela...... Here's my thinking, after checking out the covers and the videos of his live performances etc. Don't see Vince using a capo, so I started considering the chord shapes he uses in those performances, and listened to the recording over and over.....
He's playing backup to his guitarist who is carrying the tune, and it looks like he's playing F# to G# in the chorus (open F shape), so I suspect an altered tuning, which may explain why the covers don't sound exactly right either. My guess is that he's strung and tuned Nashville +/-1 semitone.
So to get around this the easy way would be to dust off the old 12 string..... invest an hour or so tuning the darn thing standard, and give that a try with or without the capo with the chords you found. If it's any help I think Buck Owens wrote that one and you might be able to find another version out there to assist.

Yeah we have knocked around the "temporary password e-mail to verify" idea as well. Now we are getting bogus e-mail addresses from services that redirect mail from phony drop-boxes to edge around that as well. Seems like every time you come up with something, they've got some way around it.
Makes it really hard to have a "open for everybody" policy, and be forced to have to put up barriers and restrictions that impede it.

Sorry buddy, Silk is an Amazon only Browser designed to function only on their hardware. Part of it is in the way it splits workload between software and hardware functions in an effort to speed things up.
Also sorry that the Safari experiment did not work for you either, had hopes it would. Don't have any bright ideas on what to try next, but perhaps the new update will correct flaws in the previous version and the scroll will magically reappear.

Thanks for checking back in Wigster. Did you try the Safari Browser to see if it worked? I'm still kinda leaning towards something preventing the java script from loading/running...... particularly as it is also working properly on the Kindle.
Also have been hearing about some issues with the iOS-8 upgrade not working as intended..... echoes of Microsoft in the early days of Vista.
Take Care;
