The only thing Ill tack on is this:  I think a great player can make any guitar sound great.  I know that if I play a guitar  and then hand it  to a better palyer, he makes it sound totally different. Toneality i may be similar, but "how it sounds" is always different to me.

Phil, how do I know what key is good for me?  I dont have a clue and I have a heard time matching to a scale or piano>  so how bout what is good for low voices with minimal range lol

One skype jam I tuned down a half step as I have alw2ays know this to be a trick of many rock bands.  Should I go a whole step? (as KISS does now lololol)

Hey Zurf, I know Im repeating myself, but thanks!! You people, or at least the ones Ive had contact with, are great. I guess Ive been jaded by the way I think society's social manners have gone down the tubes in such short time. Im 35 yrs old, and have friends between 20-60yrs old, and can see the difference in every generation. Its a shame, but nice to know I found a place where there are some genuinely cool people. And if ya lived in R.I. id b glad to share the equiptment, and have some jam sessions!
BTW: I never ever have luck like this, and I know just how nice these are, so im able to appriciate them, and id be jealous of myself too! I only mentioned the big things, there are about 12 pedals, an "Akai" riff-o-matic, u400, variable Tempo/constant pitch phrase recorder..wich I havent figured out yet. A Boss JS-5 Jamstation. Id look it up cause it does to many things for me to write down. A Tascam cd-GT1MK2 (fun toys!)

First of all-- Thank you for the compliment, (im 45 btw)-- and then...OH man just rub it all in.  I love stomps! So add the pic of the toys also. and go ahead and list all of them.  You certainly have a treasure chest there! (Oh and the comment on your one post abut getting a "fat sound " like Jerry or anyone else for that matter, doesn't look like your going to have a problem there.  You have probably every tool you need to get what you want with all the stomps and processors you have.)
I am curious though, You say you inherited them. I am hoping that you did not lose anyone in a tragic manner.  If  that was the case, it should add even more sentimental value.  I put a post on here this past summer about my luck of receiving my Ovation 12 string.  It was given to me by a dear friend who can no longer play it due to arthritis.  Long ago when I was a kid she had told me one day it would be mine when she could no longer let it sing.  That guitar will never be sold. (and it rocks too!  just ask Jeff (TopDown) or Zurf, I had it wired up with some distortion and flange for our Skype the other day! LOLOL)
Jx3 (Joey Joey Joey ) lives in NJ, but that is still a 4hr trip for ya. So that being said, keep an eye out for Skype dates in the general forum. They pop up every now and then and its good fun.  Think Virtual campfire. Each person takes a turn doing their thing.  And don’t worry about your voice, most of us can’t sing too great either. We all know it and do the best we can.  (There are those of us who do sing very good too, Just not me! I Sing flat as heck!)

My other favorite quotes :  Jayne:  Shiny. Let's be bad guys.

Mal: Looks can be deceiving.
Jayne: Not as deceiving as a low down, dirty... deceiver.

Zoë Washburne: It had a kinda poetry to it, sir.

If you are like most of us you will want different (more) guitars as you play more. There is nothing wrong with holding on to both the SG's or even all three guitars. The difference in the SG's may be finish, or even electronics. You may not hear a difference in the SG pickup's but one who has a better trained ear might. The neck radius may be thicker on one or the fretboard on one may be ebony instead of rosewood. As you find out the differences you may decide, after you have sold one or the other, that you should have kept them both. And the Kramer.

I would hold on to all three of those guitars and enjoy them. Along with that Deville amp.

Thankyou for that suggestion! Well the votes seem to b unaminous, ill hold on to all for now.Wait till I have a better view on things b4 I make any decision..if any. One thing I can say about hearing a difference, I hear a big difference between the cheapie amps I had in the past, and the "Deville", wich is tubbed. I heard of them being superior, but now I know!

Good choice.  keep them all. They only gain value.  I had a Kramer Striker 600. It was the first guitar I bought over 100 bucks.  (in the 80s it was about 375, which in todays market, maybe closer to a 5 to 700 ax).  I had to pawn it to survive.  I have missed it ever since.  Can you post a picture of it or did you find out model and value on it also?  If it has HSS and a 5 way switch or the 3 toggels, you can play ANY style of music you want.  It was a very versital guitar.  Yes I played metal with it, but also Doobie Brothers and Bryan adams.   All your guitars will play anything you ask them to. Just set up your amp for the sound you need.  NOW chordie ruels,, You had a NGD X3 (NGD= New Guitar Day) so you must post pics.  If you need help, someone here can do it for you.  I hope you stay with us for your journey.  This is one of the best places to take the ride!

Hey TF give this a try.  sound is a little rough as its a board  recording but was hastily done when they got a surprise gig.  http://circadianfrequency.bandcamp.com/  If might take a coupple listens, but I think its pretty cool. (not to mention the singer and lead guitar are a triumph buddy of mine)

Welcome to Chordie, Sharkin ...

"The Sounds of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel is normally written in Dm, but if you use the Chordie transposer to take it down 3 semitones, it comes out in a more comfortable singing key.

Hey THANKS FOR THE TIP I have been working on this song in standard, but after seeing this, I looked at it and im going to work it this way tonight! lol

Barr chords are the way to go.  If you have a electric, learnthem on it first. then the transition to acoustic will be easier. (and there is a whole long topic on that method {weather to learn on acoustic or electric first, opinions vary widely} around here also LOL.

Keep at it.

Holly Crap, could you rubb my shoulders??? I need some luck like that.  Are you sure the SG's are gibsons? if so just call the factory info line and give serial #'s.   but for general checking use the internet. www.musiciansfriend.com or guitar center (both owned by the same corp)  The black Kramer, I need a modle. it should say on the head stock by the tuners.  Kramers are some shred guitars! (as are the SG's) Depending on the make of it.  you can look the amp up also.

the amp is going to really be determined by if its an original or reissue and what model there is a wide price spread there.
basic new SG standard 1,200

Gibson SG, Special depending on model once again, 5 to 700.

One of my customers was talking about this a few weeks ago and I think that, with the right software, GuitarPro formatted songs convert tabs in to audible music to follow. I may be wrong but I also think that Guitar Pro and the songs for it have to be purchased.

I guess that ANHWIN forgot to look at our name; Chordie indicates chords.

I think your customers are talking about songster.    http://www.songsterr.com/
You do have to pay for full feature, but you can get a lot of help with the online stuff also.

As to ANHWIN, I am going to go with the positive assumption that there may be a language gap going on,,,, for now. smile

DE, aside form the types of you music you described for your self, them newest tag for it is Americana.

I'm guessing that the term "Americana" has been around at least 15 years or more and you're probably right in using that description beamer. as I've had other folks also describe my music style as "Americana". When recording my songs I try to stay away from slick productions and digital enhancements, just using a minimalist approach  - what I refer to a my "creek bank" style.

From your posts you seem to be at the metal or heavy rock end of the spectrum.  Do you write/record any songs?  I have a good friend in Michigan who is still a rocker in his late 50's and writes/records songs and occasionally sends me a copy.  His lyrics are based in the tradition of urban coffee house poetry and sometimes leave me scratching my head as to what he is trying to say.  My lyrics tend to follow the Appalachian story-telling tradition and probably seem too simple to him.  Its all good - just different strokes, etc .......

There is always some string noise. Does it happen if someone else plays same guitar? If not then Im tending to lean towards your technique.  Maybe find someone you know who plays and show them what your talking about.  They may have a helpfull hint. Its hard to tell w/out actually seeing how your playing when it happens.  If you have skype or facebook we could do a vidio feed and I would be willing to see what your doing.  We jsut have to corralate the time diff.

Several years ago I posted asking for the names of some acoustic guitar effect boxes, pedals etc. I got a lot of responses, thanks. But silly me I can't find them now. Some help, again, would be appriciated

Here is a link for ya.

Too be honest I run my acoustic through a digitech RP250 or my sons RP70.  The 250 is no longer made but the next one up is the 255.  I like the RP250 {and any higher model} because you can interface it with your computer and spend all day creating new patches.  The site also has a user's area for each model and you can download a whole zip of patches other pple have made and put in the grab bag. (Just last sunday the 17th, I was playing my 12 string ovation through the rp70 for a skype jam)

http://www.digitech.com/soundcomm/guita … ductid=255
Really the only difference I can tell is that the 255 has a Sitar patch and a looper (nice add on)
You can probably find one or a different brand of multi processor used on flea bay or Craigs list. Just make sure the power supply is with them.  Regular stomp boxes work good also.   For any guitar a EQ box is one of the best tools, then a Compressor, delay and a chorus and reverb. So if you want to expirment there are a few sets by by Berhinger: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/6 … Pedal.html and you can also look at the individual stomps by them and Danelectro. All very well priced.  http://www.musiciansfriend.com/effects- … &Ns=bS  that link is for stomps between 25 and 50 bucks.  I have found lots of great stomps in Craigs list though.  Guitar centers have a used case, and there are good deals there also.  Hope this helps, PM me if you want any more info.

I cant remember what is on my Pacemaker 12 string, but the next try is Martin silk and steel.  You might try them out for your 6er.
