Riverdales: No, you are not doing anything wrong. Send those error messages to admin@chordie.com, and I will fix it.

There is an official iPod/iPhone application coming. However it is currently a legal nightmare. Things are a lot more complicated if songs are to be stored locally on the device. I have spent hundreds of hours on this the last year, and hopefully it will be sorted out in a week or two. Unfortunately that is all I can tell you for now...

Does it look fine in print-preview?

(4 replies, posted in About Chordie)

No, I forgot all about it. Nobody else did complain.

I would still like a few examples though. Like 4-5 where this is happening.

I would really like feedback from someone having had problems printing earlier. Has this fixed your problems?

I have gotten this error message quite a few times, and I just assumed it was a local problem (most likely caused by print driver problems) - since things are appearing fine on the print preview.

However, experiencing this myself, I started to investigate the issue. It seems to be related with printing png's with transparent background, and it seems like a lot of printers have problems with this(including some very  popular HP-printers). It is really nothing you can fix yourself.

I am currently fixing the problem. This involves rebuilding all chord png's with white background instead of transparent background (graphically this does not matter since the page background is white anyway).  This actually involves several thousand images, and I have to do it over some time since it will put a lot of extra load on the server.

Expect only some of the images to print while this is being regenerated.

I am sorry for any inconvenience and frustration this error has caused.

This is most likely a print driver problem. Updating your printer driver usually helps.

I am planning a new feature/add-on to Chordie, and needs some help in completing one artist. I have chosen Bob Dylan to show off this feature.

To join the team, you have to log in and press "Improve this artist" on the Bob Dylan page. Do not change what albums are displayed.

What I need help with is adding the remaining songs (add urls from Chordie or elsewhere on the Internet), and lastly edit all songs so the chopro is perfect.

Quite a bit of work, but I know there are a lot of Dylan-fans out there..:)

It is always easier to get articles accepted if it is submitted by people with a long submission history. Isnt there any Wikipedia contributers around here...:)

I really appreciate your efforts.

Unfortunately I am unable to see the text you are trying to get approved. Could you post it here?

A T-shirt isnt supposed to come easy. This is hard work..:)

I think the really important thing about getting an article in Wikipedia is that it should not come out as "yet another web site"... And it should in no way appear as advertising/promoting anything.

I am however not sure how to do this. Maybe another strategy could be just to submit a so called "stub". One or two lines. And then later expand it..

I want the article to be about Chordie (but the forums could be mentioned, though it is probably hard to get past the delete squad).

Chordie is the largest search engine for finding guitar chords and lyrics on the Internet. It was started in October 2002 and has today 200.000 registered members.

--maybe something about what is unique with the site?

Chordie is based around the chopro file format, a file format that separates text and chords. The format is also used by programs like Chord (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chord_(software)). Separating chords and lyrics makes it possible to transpose songs automatically and create graphical chord grids for guitar, banjo, ukulele and mandolin.

Chordie has the policy of immediately removing any songs that any artist wants to remove. The sites faq (chordie.com/faq.php) states that no artist has ever requested that.

---
Anything along the lines of "it is a cool site", just makes them automatically delete it.

Any other suggestions?

Chordie is getting close to 200.000 registered users, and it not even have an entry in Wikipedia.

Articles about Chordie tend to be rejected.

Here is a challenge to everyone: Free Chordie T-shirt and Chordie guitar picks to anyone that is able to get a Wikipedia article accepted.

Are you using Safari? Have you tried using Firefox?

If you find that there exists better versions than the default one, please notify the editor of that artist.

The new system should fix the problem where you have to browse through lot of nearly identical versions.

I have not noticed this problem. Could you please give me a link to where it occurs.

This sounds more like a firewall-problem. Firewalls just mess things up when you save the cookies (ie when you log in the first time). There is no changes in later versions of Internet Explorer or Firefox that could have messed this up. It does however not sound like the cookies are stored correctly now. Better error-messages here is on my todo-list...
