Lots of great bands out there from many different genres, and it's hard to pick one, but my vote goes to the Eagles. They've had success with country, country-rock, rock, reggae flavored rock (give the album version of Hotel California another listen), and even did (God help me) a little disco on the Long Run album. Not to mention the solo careers of most of the guys.
