Yes, thats was i´ve done too: if you play plecs, sounds a little bit swabbing, but the others hear only the sound. If I record my playing, i can correct the style and tempo.

Hi, IAm playing about a year, till to day I CAN`T play with plecs: the rigt hand has long nails- thats are my plecs. With plecs the sound is horridly, I´ll never learn it. Sometimes I use a fingerpic for the thumb, nice sound.
