I wish there was a "like" button for that reply, bunbun.

This story is really unbelievable to me. I live in the UK. Fire and Rescue are paid for directly from the tax we pay. As is our police service and health care. Even the thought of what amounts to a private rural fire service is completely alien. How can any property not be covered by the nearest dept. Does not compute in this small country.

So good to hear from you crevs. I'm so pleased you're doing so well. I'll probably never be in your situation but get some scales down and look into theory with regard to chords and turnarounds.
www.justinguitar.com  has a load of stuff available. I recently clicked a little bit with the so called CAGED system. Have a look at it, it opens up so much of the neck to you.

Best of luck

Wow, I used to do the home brew thing but, like Zurf, find it just too footery (as they say in Scotland), and threw the lot out. What about wine - anyone make their own wine?

I tried Wedgie picks for a wee change and now they are all I use. Love them.

That little sip has arrived from America's Southland and it will be enjoyed with a little nod to you all. Or is that y'all?
1st of this Chordie family to email me is next on the list to receive this truly remarkable "little" box of love.
I can't promise that I won't hang on to it as long as Zurf, and have a feeling it will be after the new year when I get round to passing it on, but let the scramble begin.

???

All I can see is some photos of guitars. Am I missing something?

Very average at everything I've ever done. I guess I'm just one of life's boring, little people.

Thanks guys. I know what you mean, tandm3, it has a real hand made feel to it. I can't believe how good it sounded without even changing the strings. I've no idea when it was last played. It's the bridge that amazes me. It's just a piece of shaped wood that is inserted between the strings and the body and can obviously be moved about. Is this common? I'm guessing the MEEAAOOOOOOWWWW that's written on the body is to indicate where the bridge should be placed. Of course I only discovered this after moving it around to get the intonation sounding ok. Loving it!

Hmmm the £25 Swift or the Yamaha APX500? I think the Swift may end up on the next camp fire anyway.

I thought I'd share this with those who may find it interesting. I was recently given my late Grandfather's banjo ukulele or banlolele. My cousin had it sitting in it's case, hidden away and thought I may as well have it since she wouldn't play it.

I don't know much about them. I have a uke myself but this banjo version is a 1st for me.

I made a short video showing the instrument off; maybe some of you guys and gals would like to see this little beauty. I hope you can understand the Scottish accent...

What something like this perhaps:

Brilliant. Probably sounds about the same as me playing my 6 string.

I've always found chordie a bit slower than the rest. It's still the best though. What's a few seconds between friends?

What on earth is slower downer software?

jcellini, facebook drags us all in, in the end. lol

I actually enjoy "facebooking", it's a great way of sharing with family and friends scattered all over the planet. I guess it's what you make it. There's a little section in the basic info part of your profile that says "about you", mine simply says... still boring old me. If you're looking for tales of musical or personal expertise or accomplishment then my profile is not for you.

I'm guessing you are playing in a different key from the recording. Get yourself a capo and check out how to use it to change key. Or simply move it up a fret at a time till you get it to match.

Keep going, Zurf. I decided to take on this battle too just under a year ago. By Christmas I had lost 28lbs and have been hovering around that ever since. It can be hard, and holidays don't help, but we can do this.

Think yourselves lucky, you folk overseas. It was on virtually every channel over here ALL FREAKIN DAY in some shape or form. And then they showed the highlights!

Good luck to them, I just hope the world's media don't do to her what they did to Diana.
