I took my swing at this, removed a word here and there for my singing style, but kept the heart of the song.
I played with the chorus chords,  Its not metalized, more like "Mike Nessified"  big_smile

even more changes and the bpm will be 130
will update again after i get it all down

I have posted this before, but when writing, this is the best tool ever for variations.  Basically auto theory / Wheel of 5ths for dummies.

" I used the same chords for the chorus as I did with the verses - is that ok to do?"

Perfectly fine!

One of the tricks for that to add variation is palm muting or partially palm muting the verse and nice full open chorus.  If you can finger pick (I cant), you can pick the verse's and strum the Chorus or any variation there of  big_smile

Example from Social Distortion   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQOJY4NXYzM

Betty blowtorch did it a lot!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=He8gKsbc7Os

I know both of those are pretty heavy music wise, but the technique transfers to acoustic just as good.

Sometimes just starting the chorus as an inversion of the main line works also.

Hope you don't mind but the second verse doesn't seem quite right, may I suggest...

Keep repeating the same old sins?

As it is with most songs, its all analogy, not an unmentionable topic, just the women who wont get out of their own way.  They keep going for the same type of guys then wonder why they cant find love. SMH.

I know this is a late, very late, reply.  Sitting here on a snow day during my brake between Christmas and New Years going through post at 0750.  been up since 545.  I took my GF to work as we now have about 10 inches of snow.

An you know,  I dont see many if any electric cars on the road. HMMMMMM.  I dont mean a Prius (it at least has a small motor).

I shall put this here till I get the music together.  Note the Tuning.  I stole the Idea from King Buzzo of the Melvin's and the framework in the style of Seether.

The song started out not to be a dark song.  But I went where it went and came out easy.
Tuning: C G D G B E

I - try - to write this new song.
Seems - every time I start,
It goes all wrong.
What’s going on?

Taking - a - look back,
It’s - hitting me like slapjack.
Do - you - leave?
Or do you StaaaaY?

My - hands,
Play on my deck.
Your - hands,
Writing lots of bad checks.

Do I - stop and reconsider
Don’t - want - this to go bitter
Close - my - eyes
Time to send the pain awaaaay

Taking - a - look back,
It’s - hitting me like slapjack.
Do - you - leave?
Or do you StaaaaY?

Do - you - leave?
Or do you StaaaaY?
Do - you - leave?
Or do you StaaaaY?

Do you stayaaaaY?

(Instrumental Brake)

Do I - stop and reconsider
Don’t - want - this to go bitter
Close - my – eyes,
Time to send the pain awaaaay!

Time to send the pain awaaaay!

SEND THE PAIN AWAY!

GEEEZ I have not posted to the chat corner in a long time!

Today I discovered a punk band that has been around for a very long time and never knew them.  the band is LAGWAGON and they did a punk cover of Brown Eyed Girl.
HOnestly I think Brown Eyed Girl has tied the list for "NO Brown Eyed Girl" such as the" NO STAIRWAY" gag in Waynes World.

So after hearing their version, I did a little mod here and there, and added PUNK into the lyric

"You're my brown eyed punk girl"  and for the chorus I dropped some Ramones in instead of the shalala's.
Ill post it in songs.  its as fast as you can play, open or Root 5ths.  165bpm being the Lagwagon times and drop to 150 bpm for the bridge.(down strokes work best)

LOL Nope i cant play it that fast either. but faster than the original.

Either one of these will get you there I love both of them but you got to take some time and tweak the Dials the fullbore metal has a built-in noise gate and you can adjust the sensitivity by removing the back plate and tweaking where it kicks in.  The HM300 is a knock off of the Boss Metalzone.

And it wouldn’t hurt to get the knock off from Barringer of the tube screamer which is a mighty fine but all I’ve got all of these or had because I can no longer find my full bore metal.

It’s easy my friend,  just buy a high gain stomp box and inter mix open and Barr chords.  Then add in som palm muting. big_smile

Interesting correlation in the lyrics.

Get on your steed and ride, young man ride !
It seems the known keeps haunting the old castle.  Search for new opportunity,

Just my humble interpretation.

Thanks for sharing - I'd like to hear how it is played and sung.

You swallowed a Bitter pill
Yet try to find love still
Bleak forecast
Put that ghost in the past

A new Die to be cast.

Why do you date while still loving an Ex?
Playing games.
While not knowing you’re own mind.
Pretty + crazy, pretty crazy

Don’t go out foggy and hazy

Head games
Playing with others hearts
Figure yours out
Before you tear mine apart.

Tired of the re-start

Overflow of emotions
Let me know if I move to fast
Let me re-calibrate before
You are smothered,

And I become the past

Shes a beauty that's for sure!

Pics and vids.  So dont for get to hit the distortion and overdrive the  nice pro-buckers!  Get a little  BEAMER in your heart and METAlIZE it!  big_smile  big_smile

Banjos mystify me.  the Ex just "Had to have one"  I think in the 7 years she has had it, it's gotten played with twice.  ("Oh I have to really work at this! I don't have time for that")

I was pushing for a Guitjo, but lost that one as "Its just another toy for you" -  Hummmm well I can tell you the case has a ton of dust on it somewhere by this point.

I know not totally related, but it is my banjo story.  big_smile

I like the lyrics Beamer and your backing track sounds good. I got a friend who gets on well with his ex wife and her new husband and he often tells me, "once I fell out of lust with her I discovered she could be a good friend."

Exactly.  We had a great time but after a few years, and it always "seemed" like nothing I could do (except being a dad, im a great dad) would ever be good enough.  Little did I know there was Bar set so high I could not attain it.  Funny thing was she couldnt see the barriers in the way either.  Now, none of that is there and the kids are all "adults".

It makes a huge difference.
