Most definatly!  I had not had anythng tw write lately.  Then in a "fuzzy foggy" point at 1:30 AM, I ended up writing the one I posted today.

Bill you can use a Piezo pick up. You put it on your bridge or body top.  It wont leave any marks.

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail … me-control

The Dean Markley is what my buddy used and its a fine unit, but no volume option.

https://www.beacockmusic.com/p-60494-de … ickup.aspx

Or you can have one mounted under the saddle where you plug into the strap nut.

However I think one of  the first options is probably all you need.

Cheers

We cant stop time can we.  It is sad.  in a band of three, and the iconic pair of Beards, replacing him will be a tough sell.  However I shall also be the pragmatic one of the thread.

They will replace him with a hired gun. There are many  "A" list players who also can sing who would fill in and do it as an honor.  Why? Contractual obligation.  Billy could carry the show on his own if wanted to just hire a backing band.  He may have to go as Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, but would anyone really not go see him? Then there is also the fact that maybe Bill is sitting good due to  his TV gigs and other stuff, Frank Probably could use the $$ as he is not getting any younger either.

Like it or not the reality is,  The show Will Go on and it is a dollar driven endeavor.  Lets face it, no one is looking to ZZ Top for fresh new music. (the last disk was "Meh" anyhow)

We all want to hear the classic songs we partied with (so this is first 4 disks and Eliminator).  We may politely sit through something new, but when BEER DRINKERS AND HELL RAISERS, TUSH, FRANCINE, AND GIMMI ALL YOUR LOVING get broken out, THAT'S when when we let out the big yell and hands go in the air!

It is slowly coming together.  Wanting to take a more modern style to this one.  The verse progression is taken care of, but the Pre chorus and chorus are giving me a hard time.

D standard/ drop C

V1:
Turning to my pillow,
Another day is done.
Reality is dragging on me,
Where am I to run?

V2:
Will I dream tonight?
As my face goes numb.
Will it tell me I’m Ok?
I haven’t thrown my life away.

Pre Chorus:
I dream in darkness. Searching for light
Will you take my hand? When I wake tonight.
We can walk together, we can walk together
And it will be alright!

Ch:
CAN YOU TELL ME,
IF ALL THAT I HAVE DONE,
WILL MATTER FOR ANYTHING,
OR ANYONE?

V3
Running through this tunnel,
Searching for the light,
No plan ahead
I’m Just fighting my fight

V4
Waking to the new day
Feet touching the floor
Pins and needles tell me,
I’m alive, . . . .  Once more

Pre Chorus:
I dream in darkness. Searching for light
Will you take my hand? When I wake tonight.
We can walk together, we can walk together
And it will be alright!

This is posted here for all the non FB folks.  Last Saturday (5 June 21) I picked up a new beauty.  A Guild T-Bird. P-90. here is the stock add for it:
"Based on the S-200 T-Bird reissue, the T-Bird ST P90 features the same unique, asymmetrical shape, but with a simplified feature set. Minimalist players will appreciate the added stability and reliability of a stopbar tailpiece and pared down electronic controls, while enjoying the T-Bird’s retro vibe. The dual Guild Franz P90 pickups found on the T-Bird ST P90 are perfect for the player looking for that crisp, vintage, single-coil sound, offering plenty of mid-range output that can be driven to a soaring classic rock tone. The T-Bird features a vintage C shape set mahogany neck, and bound rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl block inlays. Other period-correct details include open gear vintage tuning machines, and famed asymmetrical headstock adorned with Guild’s logo and Thunderbird icon in mother-of-pearl."

While I know (thanks to Z) that the Franz pups are special and always sold out, I am having them replaced with hotter P90 pickups.  Ill hold onto them Franz set just in case, but they will probably go up for sale. (get a little money back).

Here is a clip of Sonbeam and myself.  Ill do the same song with the new pups and exact  same amp settings for a comparison as soon as the guitar comes back from  the shop.

I could feel the anguish in this young ladys thoughts, you've compiled them into a coherent poem. The story tells of lust which never lasts, sex without love is never truly satisfying and leaves the young lady with remorse and in danger of the consequences.

You've treated her thoughts with more respect than the guy in the poem. Well done

Thank you.  I did the best I could for due justice and respect.

I met a nice young lady at the pub the other day and she was reading some poetry books.  We started talking.  I showed her Shades Of Gray (which she really liked!)  We exchanged numbers and she sent me a text askeing me to edit her idea and thoughts from a jurnal into a poem.

This is the result.

CAFFEINE AND KRYPTONITE

Caffeine or my kryptonite.
No love,  just sex last night
Back to back with hands we still grasp.

The music I play
As you lay there snoring.
Lyrics bouncing off,
You are done,  and now I am boring.

You no longer let me snuggle.
So now I drink and hide in this bubble.
I can crash and pretend there is no trouble.

You wake for us to go our separate ways,
Who knows the hours or days.
Love songs have no appeal,
For my heart you did steel.

That is another great one!

Well the spare was flat and I got uptight
'Cause there wasn't a fillin' station in sight
So I jes' limped down the shoulder on the rim

I went as far as I could and when I stopped the car
It was right in front of this little bar
A kind of a redneck lookin' joint called the Dew Drop Inn

AND KNOW WE ARE ALL RESCINDS HERE AND ABOUT big_smile

Late credits :  Jets helped me out with  what is the chorus, and the disavow line.  big_smile

This is a song, I just dont do TAB well as there is some hammer on and pull offs.
Main riff Is: G to A then hammer C#2x and hammer D and pull off. then to a one finger A(think slow ride by Foghat)
C5 to D5 back to intro riff. the rest is not hard to follow.

Shades of Gray

First measure intro riff bar 1
Second measure intro with full drums: start verse

V1:
Do your best to be a good guy,
Tell the truth they call you high
Shades of grey I just can-not abide.
Black and white and will make you cry

Ch:
Hear a call, and you’ve come to aid
Ungrateful thanks, are all you’re paid
Shades of grey now start to fade,
Played for a fool, yet we still make the grade!

(Up the neck w/ guitar)

V2:
Have it your way, go speak to a crowd
See how much the masses allow
Standing tall and standing proud
Brothers to brother never disavow

V3:
Speak in half-truths, straddle the line
Play the fear and push back in time
You create hate and mistrust,
I won’t ride that poisonous Bus

Ch:
Hear a call, and you’ve come to aid
Ungrateful thanks, are all you’re paid
Shades of grey now start to fade,
Played for a fool, yet we still make the grade!

Repeat V1:
Do your best to be a good guy,
Tell the truth they call you high
Shades of grey I just can-not abide.
Black and white and will make you cry

Shades of grey now start to fade,
Played for a fool, yet we still make the grade!
Tell the truth they call you high
Black and white and will make you cry

OK I will play along, as each have contributed to this poem and song.

The cunning mind, feels alone
As it leaves us all behind.
Forward into the nether we shall meet our end
And hear our final chime.

Some await the final moment
The greatest question will be known,
What will be the answer?
Will the mind be blown?

another thoughtful piece Pete.

This is so true.   However in America this is how such a donk of a person like trump was elected.

He played to the white ignorant vote, stirred up racism to a terrible new high and surly will be ranked in the top 5 worst presidents in history.

I’m not real thrilled with Biden, but what were the alternative options?

As you say, why vote?  I voted, but not real happy about what was there.  It was a game of the lessor of two evils.
