the "A" bar shape is used for "F" also ..it is fundemental as it starts at F on the 1 fret and works up to A at 5th fret b at seventh c at eigth ect . also if you lift your new jersey finger the major becomes a minor chord.  there is in my experience nothing but continued practice that will make you good at this.

about playing scales: IMHO practice them daily. Learn combos of both major and minors. Good for you. Take a scale such as C or A doesn't matter. run up and down the fretboard bend and hammer. change your timiing ect. Amazing what will happen.

try this Bm/A7/D also Bm followed by F#m another combo I like is open G follwed by Bm  then a repeat phrasing of G Bm C.

Rev Gary Davis
Missisippi  John Hurt (the best of the Delta style fingerpickers, when he played it sounded like 2 guitars at the same time.)
Chuck Berry (without Berry there would be no Hendrix,Paige, SRV or Beatles)
Chet Atkins
Big Bill Broonzy (he taught Clapton and the Blues Breakers  how to play the blues)
Lonnie Johnson (took blues and turned it into a new form called jazz)
