Works from just browsing artists. Just not from other public books...strange.

I am unable to add a song from someone's public book  to my song book. I thought maybe one was full so I created a new book...still no go. No error, page just refreshes and never adds the song. Thanks!

We need a classified section in the forums. I have other forums I am in just for the classified section. We are adding lots of users these days and I think it would be a great feature.

Set it up with rules like Chordie is not responsible for the deals, no "questionable" material, no company spam etc.

I think it would be cool. Here is a site I use and I have had great luck buying and selling there. Much better to deal with than eBay.

Thanks!

I have a ValveKing 112 and I really like it. I would recommend it. The Amp is plenty loud and can actually function as a head (if I remember correctly) if you connect a stack to it. Good bang for the buck and all tube. I play a Strat and a Tele through it and they both sound really nice. I also play an Ibanez acoustic through it from time to time. The amp seems kind of thick on the bass as a general rule, but that isn't necessarily bad.

The problem I have is a lack of volume. I have considered buying a guitar specific jack to see if that makes a difference vs. a generic mono jack. Just not sure I want to spend the time and effort...the $4 for the part is not an issue.

I just replaced the electronics in my Strat and I used a RadioShack mono output jack I had from a previous project. The whole guitar sounds quiet compared to what I expect from the new PUPs. I was thinking of replacing the jack with a new Fender or DiMarzio jack. Anyone know if I should expect a change or if there are any real differences from one mono jack to another?

BigDJ seems to be on this topic of learning accoustic first frequently with the same basic ramblings.

I learned on electric and am converting to accoustic easily. As I mentioned in another post in response to DJ, this is all about finding your style and sound and the guitar that works for you. If that is accoustic, great, if  you have small hands like me an electric may be easier to pickup first and develop strength while learning.

Learning on an electric first is fine. A guitar IS a guitar in the sense that the basics such as strings, intonation and theory (Chords, scales etc.) are the same for any type of 6-string standard tuned guitar you pickup.

Your comment about saying "a Guitar is a Guitar is like saying a banjo is a fiddle" is more accurate if you say a fiddle is like a violin...same basic instrument totally different styles. That is a clear way to view electric vs. accoustic.

I would love to be able to go to a song, view the alternate fingering for a chord and substitute a different version of it into the version of the song I keep in my songbook. For example, adding a bar chord version of a chord when most all other chords in the song are bar chords would be a nice feature.

Any thoughts about that?

Wow.

I have been playing about a year and a half. Learned on a Mexi-Strat and just bought an Ibanez Acoustic with a fishman pickup.

Dude, the Ibanez is a really nice guitar for the money. You guys toss around the $800-900 price point like anyone can do it. Remember most people here will NEVER make a dime from their playing or cut a record. I play for enjoyment, and dropping an extra $500 for a name is crazy if you can get the sound <u>YOU</u>want for less. It is all personal preference.

Also, learning on the electric and transitioning to acoustic was not an issue. I have had my acoustic for...lets see...three days and I can play it as well as my Strat which has Ultra light strings. Again, it is all personal preference. I bought the acoustic that fit my playing style, the action I like and my smallish hands.

Lets not bust chops on preferences. It is pointless and only leads to pissing matches where everyone laughs at everyone else. OK maybe that means it isn't totally pointless!
