A good foot tapper Phill. Well recorded and performed as usual.
As you say it is what it is a decent 12 barrer (is that word) song.
well done.

Best wishes to you Bill and Dondra in this trying time.
I hope things workout for the positive for you both.
Here's a little relaxing melody for you both..

Well having posted songs on MySpace, sound cloud and our stage in the past linking them on Chordie. I can say there never seems to be a correlation between the number of views on Chordie and the plays or for that matter comments on Chordie.
I think this also true to if you take in the comments and plays on the host site itself.
I know I don't comment on everything I listen to so looking for logic in the numbers is probably looking for something that's not there.
That's my theory.

Nice job Phill I liked the chorus guitar and the guitar break your voice is always good.
I was waiting for some some drums to kick in somewhere I guess they were not needed.
The stereo effect was good though the headphones.
Well done

Thanks for the comments bluejeep and Jandle.

Hope you enjoyed your holiday Phill. I just got back from a Centre Park break with the grand kids. I need a rest now..
Glad you liked the song.

Thanks for the comment Graham.
Your probably right about the voice levels. I have a naff microphone to compliment a weak voice add them together and they leave much to be desired. smile

Most guys on Chordie Know for my instrumentals well if you have listen to this you will probably know why..
I wrote it a few years back dusted it off and gave it the full works. Listening to it I would have like to have given it a guitar break somewhere but as it was originally just a acoustic song the break would have made it just to long.
It's an anti war song. As any sounded minded person will tell you is the only war song worth listening to.
thanks for your time.

I've watched the X factor on and off for a few years. This year I've decided to give it a break and work on my own stuff.
You know what depresses most about the programme is not the lack of talent but how the talent is manipulated through the show and afterwards.
I have heard some great voices some real talented singer songwriters with great original songs get nowhere or if they do when they release a song it's bland and conforms to what is considered downloadable teen fair.
Well I guess that's where the money is and mostly that where the real talent gets compromised.
I've got nothing against the show in general. It's entertainment of the base kind and no one gets hurt
even though there's buckets of tears shed lol..
There's always strickly on the other side...

I'll check it out after I've had a word with arkady.
Ark, the phone isn't an i phone, I have clicked on the right hand corner of the ad. The ad just disappears but just leaves a blank space with 3 options. Ad choices. Ad  covers the page, then half a message saying , eeing this page. Click on any of those and I get a message saying thanks for the feedback, undo. Click undo and the ad reappears.

Another variation on it then.
At least when I click on Ad covers the page the Ad goes and thanks me for the feedback. Only to return as soon as I move to another page on Chordie.
As yours is not an iPhone then the problem is more wide spread than I thought.
If you get round the Ad problem let us all know.
Another vagary I found this seem only to occur on the forums pages.

If your new phone is an iPhone then you might just have to live with it.
It been an on going problem with Apple iphone for a while. Admin knows the problem but it is still with us.
You can get rid of the ad by clicking on the the ad in the top right hand corner on a little icon.
This gives you option of removing the ad if it covers the page. Unfortunately this only works on the page you are viewing. It will be back on the next page you move to.
If your phone is not an apple then maybe something on Amy's sticky will work for you.
But don't hold your breath.

Thanks Amy for the info.
The desktop version of Safari which I use does not display the print option and never has.
I'm using a new iPad Air wth lastest IOS software the display is in landscape.
Also the front page of Chordie is missing the right hand box admin is aware with a screen snapshot of the problem.
it's not a major downer but seems to be unfixable.
Maybe if John tries your fix he will have more luck.

Hi john
There are some issues with using an iPad to access Chordie and it seems one them with my iPad is the option to print is missing.
I'm pretty sure admin knows of the problems and is working on them.
They maybe able to be resolved in the future we will just have to wait and see.
The option to print  with AirPrinter could be used but not having one I can't say what the results would be.
If anyone has used an Airprinter or found a work round let us know.

Can y'all not post your own stuff to the whatchamacallit (that word we're not supposed to say because it doesn't belong to us and stuff)? You know that ....... list? I kept looking for Phill's song there, because I wanted to play around with the transposition engine, but could never find it.

So if I wanted to transpose his song into another key, how would I do it, if it doesn't appear........ you know, there?

Phill's song will only appear in the songwriting section.

As Russell says as there is no chords then it's a poem.
Until music is added.
It just makes things more ordered.
So off to poems you go

As Stated original song links are fine.
I have noticed a lot of guys who are posting songs have not filled in their website link on the left of the page. This can be used to display their song page or any website within Chordie guidelines.
Just thought.

Genesis    "The Musical Box"    Shepperton, 1973

Another classic piece of Genesis material, from their 3rd studio album "Nursery Cryme" (1971). Peter Gabriel's lo-tech theatricality is again in evidence. His reverse Mohawk appears to be a statement against the punk rock movement, which was attacking the Prog Rock people for being pretentious. Fun & games, but out of the 70's Canterbury scene came a LOT of great prog music.

Hi Funster
Thanks for cheering me up  smile
After having a track I had spent a long time on go to the wall lost to the electronic ether. I saw you post.
I remember all the lyrics. God it's amazing what imbedded in the old noggin. I guess it must have to do with the number of times I heard the album. I must admit it's one of my favourites.
I think I saw Steve Hackett give Pete Gabriel a bit of a look as to say what's he going on about at the start. I think the theatrical performance side of Pete Gabriel began to wear a bit thin with the rest of the band as time went on.
Anyway it's a great track and bought back memories.

I know it's daft to feel more unsettled by the destruction of old buildings than the deaths of so many innocent people but I do.
Maybe I shouldn't give them the time of day but I do.
I'm just glad that I can watch it through a glass screen and not experience the horror first hand.

Thanks Bill and Phill  for your comments.
That was powerful poem Graham.

IS put a gun then a hammer in my hand..
They said
The AK is for your future the hammer for their past.
We are the sweeping hand of God we will leave holy destruction in our wake.
For we hold the truth that breaks the infidels lies.
No earthly values for us to share just the hammer of God to bless and wield.
No tolerance is acceptable compassion a sin.
The ancient fallen buildings leave a smile on the face of God.
We are the deadly truth and the future is ours the past is theirs and it is turned to ruin in our holy wake.
Go forth soldier of IS and leave your mark for paradise awaits.

I watched a recent documentary on how IS (Islamic State) is destroying ancient monuments in the lands they have occupied.

I'm willing to contribute to the album.

Well Bill in the past we had a songwriting competition.
The competition was run by Russ Harding the recording mod. It was just for fun no prizes were involved he judged.
I seem to remember the comp had constraints of which chords you could use.
The comp was poorly entered with just a couple of entries. Me being one I think it was a tie LOL.
I think the idea was a good one. I regularly enter Ourstages competitions.
Judging from the past the problems would be the will to run it and the members willing to enter it.
