Don't try to learn by playing a song, it's too difficult that way.  Pick two chords and just switch between them..E to A perhaps or D to A. 


Nice short nails and take your time.  Make sure you are not twisting the guitar around so you can see what you are doing!

Just cos they work in a shop doesn't much of anything!!  I have a Tanglewood and I love it.  nice clear sharp sound mmmmmmm!

Play a little often.  Set aside a regular practice slot and increase the time a little every day.  Also don't squeze so hard, you ain't tryint to choke it!!  Keep the nails short as well it's easier to hold the strings then.

Barre chords get easier with practise.  But a trick I used was to put a capo on say third fret and then play F, F# and G.  Doesn't sound right but it's easier to get the shape right and then later loose the capo and play them in the correct position.


Don't try to play songs yet, just practise getting the shape.


The other thing to remember is not to be afraid of Chord rotation.  Often songs and tabs may not suit your voice so you move all the chords the same number to het to the key that suits your voice.  eg F moved up two notes becomes A.  C becomes G etc.
