Again?

This week it's

1.  Zep
2.  Hank Williams and the Wandering Cowboys
3.  Meshuggah
4.  Bobby McFerrin
5.  The Artists Formerly Known as Deep Dish Gravity (pimpin style!)

Jerome

Who is Meshuggah?  I've heard of the name a couple of times ... actually I have a preset on my Line6 of Meshuggah and it sounds pretty slick

Meshuggah is a Swedish thrash metal band that absolutely rox.

Jay I do the same thing ... I've done that alot with the 12 bar blues scale and did some improving on it and it sounds slick ... I'm starting to do that with my Pentatonic scales ... currently I'm working on my Ionian scales, etc

How many guys play more than one instrument?  I've been thinking of buying a bass and learning that as well.  Is it me or is it easy to learn the bass since from what I can see, you're not playing chords ... you're playing individual notes.

Is the learning curve on the bass fast due to this?  Thoughts?

I use Youtube alot not just for purchasing gear, etc but for seeing how some others play a certain song ... sometimes I'll go with a tab and something doesn't sound right ... so I'll do a search on Youtube and find out if it's right or wrong ... consider it a "Quality Control" item smile

lol good story James ... about 15 years ago when I had a headfull of hair, I was deployed in the mid-east ... we didnt have clippers with us so we had to use the "locals" that came on the base to cut hair ... now mind you I used to gel my hair back since it was long to stay in regs ... well I tell this "local" just cut it short on the sides and trim the top to which he replied "yes" ... well he took the clippers and ran it right down the middle of my head and preceeded to shave it all off ... tad bit pissed?  that's an understatement lol ... so since 15 years ago, I've continued to shave my head to a 1/4"  smile

Moral of the story:  You might actually like it!  I love mine, plus it hides the grey wink

Thanks Joe ... I wanted something stripped down and basic ... nothing more ... I want a clean tone ... I find it hard to get that on my settings from my Line6 Amp

Does anyone have a Fender Frontman 212R Series Amp?  I was thinking of buying one this weekend ... I already have my Line6 III 75 Spider Amp but I want a straight Amp with no presets, etc ... I wanted to know if anyone has played on one, or owns one and how good they are ... from what I've seen, there's a lot of good reviews on them

Love your responses guys!  That made my morning ... haven't laughed like that in a few weeks!

I agree ... so much is always expected of Ronaldo ... when SAF signed him I loved him from the get go ... he's matured ALOT the past two years ... what he does on the pitch is like poetry ... although sometimes he goes to the ground to easily when challenged ... but then again, Thierry Henry did the same!  But I think Fabergas from Arsenal does it way too much ... but flopping is another day, another story!

My inspiration was Joe Satriani ... just loved how he could make the guitar do whatever he wanted ... almost like it was a piece of him and not some piece of equipment he was holding

Keep at it Borth ... one thing we've all learned is when your fingers start "acting up", it's usually from playing "too long" ... one thing I've noticed is sometimes your fingers say, "I'm not going to cooperate today" ... just like we all have good days and bad days, your fingers are the same way ... usually when that happens I'll put the guitar down and do something else and come back later

Have fun with the www.justinguitar.com site ... it is the best site for learning IMO ... I paid for an instructor for 2 months and quit; reason?  justinguitar.com was teaching me MORE than I did with him and I picked up things ALOT faster

Is it a bad thing that I'm a Man Utd fan? lol  But that aside, I did notice the heated rivalry between Celtic and the Rangers when I was stationed in England.  I actually liked Celtic when I saw Henrik Larrson playing for them ... loved how he played

But for upyerkilt ... "The Grid Iron" refers to the field (or pitch) ... actually not really sure why it's called that to be honest ... but in regards to using feet, the only time they use the "foot" is during kickoffs, punts, or field goals (like rugby kicking it through the uprights) ... and usually the kicker is the biggest wuss on the field since he never gets involved in tackling, etc unless he's the last resort and will usually embarras himself by getting run over or knocked silly ... sadly these guys are usually former "soccer" players or footballers

But on a side note, how bout Ronaldo???  tongue

Epiphone LP's are the introduction series into the Les Paul line and some dont realize they are made by Gibson ... alot of guitarists do actually use them (think of them as a cheaper alternative to the Gibson LP) ... Zakk Wylde/Slash use Epiphone Customs in some of their songs so they pump alot of $$$ in them ... it's all based on what feels comfortable with them and you

They are alot cheaper than a Gibson LP ... for the price (160 pounds = $220-$240) that's a great price ... my guess is you wont be disappointed with the Epiphone ... still a fine guitar for the Les Paul line ... you will still get the bluesy/classic rock sound with them ... I love how my Les Paul sounds ... and I'm sure you'll love the sound of the Epiphone just as well

Basing it solely on my love for sweet guitar playing, Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover tops my list.  Basing it everything, not just guitar, I'd have to say No More Lonely Nights by Paul McCartney.  One more, not just because it's on Guitar Hero, Through The Fire and Flames.

Sweet song ... love Ciffs ... I have a few:

One - U2
Dreams - Cranberries
Angel - Sarah McLaughlin

Strictly music speaking ...

Flying in a Blue Dream - Joe Satriani
Eruption - EVH

I never really delved deep into LA Guns ... forgot that Traci used to be with them beforehand ... there was only a few songs by the Guns I liked

Bernie Taupin (Collaborated w/Elton John on alot of his songs)

I'm a powerchord junkie so any of 5th string varieties I love!  On the open chord format I love the sustained chords (Asus, Dsus, etc)
