I've been playing for 40 years. Sometimes electric sometimes acoustic, right now I have a 12 string. When I was teaching myself to play, I played House of the Rising Sun for about 3 months, because there are 4 or 5 chords to use. At first it was difficult, but soon I got the beat and then everything else became easy. Hope it helps.
