Erin,

Check for a pattern in the song. Alot of songs have a pattern [verse, chorus, instrumental,

bridge, etc.] Once you learn the pattern, the pattern is often repeated.

If there is any difference it will most likely be very slight. That being said, [there are the

exceptions]. Probably not the case with Three Doors Down though!

If all that you have is chords shown above the lyrics, you might want to search the internet

for a chord chart. I recommend you download to your computer so you'll have to it if you need

to look up any chord you might be having trouble with. Good luck with this song!

The verses in that song are based off the D chord. during the verses you never have to move

your ring finger. it's similar to a walk down or you could look at it like a passing chord.

Old Doll,

Thanks, these songs I've posted on here, are the ones I think are good enough to post.

I am working on more. Always playing my guitar and coming up with stuff, some of it

worth keeping, some not. It's just how it goes. But I like writing, so I'll keep doing it.

Old Doll,

Thanks for the kind words. This song is not based on any truth, I've ever had to deal with.

Had a chord progression, and a melody. And I don't know why, but the words just came,

And everything just fit. When I get back in town, I'm gonna work on recording my songs that

I've posted. When I do that, I'll post them on myspace.

Phil,

Thanks for the kind words. I've been working hard to improve my songwriting skills, I'm going to

be out of town the eighth thru the eleventh of May. When I get back, i'm going to work on getting

them recorded. I'm anxious to here what others think of my song arrangements. Ive seen alot of

talented writers on here, would like to see if I stack up!!!. Writing lyrics and singing have always

been my weak points. We'll see if I've improved. BE BRUTAL!!!!!

Phil,

As soon as I can, My 24 track needs some work, but I know someone that has a 16 track. Also I don't know how to get the media player on myspace. As soon as I figure that one out, I'll get it and the other song I wrote on there. Thanks for the kind words 'bout my songs!! Got to get to work, talk later.

Zurf is totally correct on both parts! You'll never learn the correct way to play, if you don't learn them right. It takes a little pressure on the strings to get barre chords to sound right, but well worth the effort. Learn them correctly and jam on bro!!! If you know how to play a basic E chord, move that chord up two frets or one step, Barre across second fret and lift middle finger, now you have an F#m! Yeah Zurf, B sucks! But life ain't easy so I play it anyway!!!

Thanks, I listened to Grey Skies. Very good song, I like both versions. Well written, well sung.
Think you sound good when you sing and play! I think I'll learn it. When I get time, I'll write some more songs and post them. Again, thanks. Keep writing and singing!

Hey, daddycool,

Appreggated, not sure of the spelling, means to pick strings[while holding a chord shape] one
at a time. I'm going to try to record this song, and then you'll know what it is. I guess you
could say that appregated is Like finger picking, only with a pick. I really like this site!!!

This is a song I wrote several years ago. It's about not letting go.
It's called "Don't It Make You Wonder"
It's got a country feel to it.
Intro and verses are appregated and choruses are strummed.

FNCheney,

You might as well throw that Squire in the trash. My brother had one, could never keep it in tune. I have an american standard tele that I just love, and I'm a Gibson man. But Gibson is just to exspensive, so I buy what I can afford. The american standard has real american parts. Although they are assembled in mexico, their alot better made than a Squire. Squire...Biggist mistake Fender ever made. Also, incase you don't already know, Sigma is made by Martin!! Good job getting it out of the dumpster. Well worth saving. I personally think Martin makes the best sounding acoustics in the world.
I presently have in my collection:
1: Fender american standard tele
2: Epiphone straight acoustic [no electronics]
3: Ovation celebrity thin body [acoustic/electric]
4: B.C Rich warlock [electric]
5: Guild twelve string [acoustic/electric]
6: And an old Lotus Les paul copy w/screamin demarzio pickups.

I always start with a chord progression on my guitar, Then I come up with a melody that complements the progression, Then words. I'm good with chord progressions and melodies. My problem lies with lyrics. Writing lyrics has always been a problem for me.
