Re: Changing chords (20 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Astro,
Keep the faith! AND practice. Is half an hour enough? Only you can answer that.
I can only answer for myself. There is a lot of things happening as I am learning, the chords, the strum / picking, and for me the singing. To get it all coordinated takes a lot. I am just learning barre chords now and am having the same issues you are. It will take me a lot of time to get it the way I want. I will also "practice" one day and then just "play" on other days. I spend a lot of time plateau'd and just when I am getting really frustrated it comes together and the work was worth it.
Maybe try to do your changes by only doing a partial change, or the high notes first, for a beat or so, then fill in the bottom as your fingers catch up? Some songs I work on can use a strum with no left hand at all while I line up my fingers to hit the next chord. Play with a friend who can do the transitions while you catch up?
Keep on playing! It will happen!

Re: THE BABY BOOM (2 replies, posted in Acoustic)
I have a baby Martin, I bought it (4 months ago) mainly because I travel a lot on planes and did not like checking my full size guitar as bagage. The baby fits real nice in the overhead bin and I have yet to have a problem getting it on the plane with about 20 flights under my belt.
The sound is not as full as the full size, obviously, but I now find I am playing the baby on certain songs because I like the smaller sound. It is also helping my technique on everything as it seems easier to manouver around the fret board, and my strumming is improved as well.
All in all I am glad I have it.

I am looking for other guitar players / learners, who want to get together and play some tunes and help each other get better, but most of all just have some fun. I guess what I currently play would be classified as rythem accoustic guitar. I don't do a lot of picking and mainly strum chords and sing. I play a bunch of Eagles, Credence, Jimmy Buffet, Kristopherson, Dylan, Guthrie, Denver etc.... Let me know if you are interested...

Hey texan.....
I play that model of Seagull and it really plays nice. Great deep tones. I bounce back and forth between D'dario lights and custom light strings. Good luck with it!
