it might be slightly exaggerated, but looking back now i dont think i smelt that sweet! i now brush my teeth twice a day, floss and gargle, i shower every day too, but i only shave 3 times a week,(if i can get away with it). i dont know how queen victoria managed, she started a new trend of bathing once a month! previously it was an annual thing world wide i think.

hi jamier

if you'd like to put it to music...be my guest

thanks lena and jamie,

i was born in 1951, post war britain, all rations and poverty. bath night was sunday for school on monday! and when my shoes got holes in the soles cardboard was cut to size to stop my feet getting wet...it didnt work. but that's how things were in those days.

i also remember in 1966, i used to wear my fathers demob suit to the dance! no wonder i never pulled.

ps and in the late 50's and early 60's, tv finished at 9.30!

all too true, i'm afraid.

last year the uk government bailed out the banks after they almost bankrupted the country. so what did the greedy bankers do? gave themselves bonuses!  give me strength...

the unfortunate truth is that it's a rich mans world. two years ago they closed the factory i had worked at for 18 years. making a profit, the only site in the group that was. so it was a political decision which the working man has yet again got to pay for.

sorry for the rant....but a very poignant subject which opens a lot of wounds and discussion.

Dear friends,

I have regrettably had to ban Neil Pineda as he has upset a lot of members on this site. Banning him was a long and drawn out process for me, but I feel it had to be done to protect what we have here.
I understand that some of you may disagree with my actions and I welcome your comments, and if you can give me a good reason for reinstating him I would gladly do this, if it is the general consensus.

For your information, the email I sent him to inform him of the ban has not been replied to. He has ignored my other emails and emails from other members too!
We moderators have tried to trace his location from his IP address, he says he's from Kansas USA, but his IP says Qatar! he's even been traced to the Philipines! he seems to be a well traveled guy!

Marcalan, you seem to have a sympathy for him, please feel free to email him if he'll answer you.

In conclusion, I shall be deleting his posts at the weekend, so enjoy them while you can.

hi jamie,

i guess poetry is meant to be deep and inscrutable, and make you ask the question; what do i see here?

in effect we must all draw our own conclusions, whether it be an ode to the moon or a light bulb!

excellent work, i'm sure we will see more from you

russ, i thought the line from "werewolves" was your entry for the song.

I woke-up this morning with this in my mind. It's meant to be from my wife to me, and how she had to nag me to get me to up-grade to a more hygienic bathroom routine! I am a lot cleaner now...honest.

Chordpro error: The song does not contain chords. Please include at least two chords in brackets within the text, like this: [C7].

got to say i checked this out, how brilliant is she? you get all these kids and oldies on X factor, who go on to win, sell million's(?) of records and their one stumbling block is that they are totally under talented.

if this lady entered X factor she would walk it. trouble is, she probably wouldn't get passed the auditions!   sad

come on you guys, you cant quote lines from "werewolves of london" that's cheating and may infringe copyright!

my offering for the third line is:   "nobody sees the white shark on it's knees"

my impression is regret. regret for thinking that this man could give you what you needed for the rest of your life, maybe? regret that after giving him everything, he left you with nothing, only memories, some good, some bad. now you regret that you gave him too much...god! i'm making up my own story here.

great write lena, heartfelt with deep emotion

Hi friends.

it is with great regret that i've had to delete neil pineda's postings. after consultations with other moderators the general concensus is that he was hijacking the original post. i replied to neil in a polite way encouraging him to start his own thread, which he seems to have ignored! i hate having to do this as i believe that everyone's work is valid and worthy of display.

i will not ban neil on this instance, but hope he will conform to the rules and procedures as laid down in the regulations and take part in and add to chordie poem forum.

hi neil, your poems are great, but you should start your own thread, that way people will look at your work in it's own right and hopefully comment and give you tips.

if your not sure how to do that; at the top of the page is a button that says"start a new subject" click there and a dialog box will appear same as a comment box) enter your poem here. click submit (or preview if you'd like to check your work). your poem will then magically appear with your name to give you credit.

hope this helps. keep on with the writing

Thank you Lena, it was a while ago now and things are more or less back to normal. I love her and she loves me, what more can any man ask for?

Yes unfortunately we men can be somewhat childish at times. All we need is a little love from a special person, if we dont know that, what sadness and heartache can follow!

Hi Jason, I agree in part, anger can be the relief valve when your boiler is about to erupt, but it's quite often the one thing that can destroy us; people, relationships even countries!

A good mathematical knowledge of how to count to ten helps. Maybe Hitler could only count to three?

hi tf, and welcome to chordie, you've had quite a response for your first posting, so i'd like to add my 5 pennorth.

i've only recently bought my first tele, (i'm 59) i've had semi acoustics and strats (original and copies) and think the fender telecaster is up there with the best. i didnt realise how the thickness of the neck would affect my playing. you've found that out for yourself i see.

i was recording a song yesterday, i began with acoustic, to get the rhythm, then bass guitar, then i got out my tele for some lead!!!!! if you think it's weired going from acoustic to a tele try from bass to tele!!!

one thing though....dont put heavy gauge strings on it.

the sad part of this whole thing is that there is a big media fuss, when it happened, when the first one came out, and i bet when the last one emerges....bet the guys in the middle dont even get a mention, let alone tv coverage!

sorry to be cynical

hi lena,

thank you for your kind words. mekidsmom inspired me to write this, but i used my own experiences of life and death in the content. i also had thoughts of you as i've noticed that you've had more than your fair share of grief in the last couple of years.

i've just completed a recording of this, which i'm reasonably happy with, and i'll post it asap.

i wrote it as a poem....but you know how things can change?
