Telling my age here but I remember several things that were mentioned here as I'm sure a few more do. I think for me a good time to revisit would be the antebellum days of the old South, with the exception of slavery. I'm also sure there are other times I'd enjoy as well. Great topic though.

Thanks for all the tips guys, it was much appreciated, feels a little better today. I've iced it and held it up some, but when I reach down it still throbs with pain. Thanks again for all the tips.

I cut the side of my left index finger on some metal on the middle knuckle. Probably should have had a couple stitches but was to stubborn to see the Dr. I can't get any chords just now because it stings with pain every time I bend it or put pressure on it. So..I guess I'll have to wait until it's better until I can play anymore. My question is, does anyone have any ideas of how to get rid of the soreness?

You can upload an avatar of anything, doesn't have to be a picture of you. I seldom use Face book, twitter is very different than FB. It's constantly moving once you get a following of people on whatever your interested in, be it music, sports, you name it, there's a following for it.

Hi NapeDog and Dino, it's @Chordie, once you go on twitter. I enjoy it, it's fun once you gain a following, but slow until you do gain that following. It's great for talking sports or whatever your interests are, music, anytrhing. My name over there in @TobaccoRdMayor.

I was wondering if Chordie was on Twitter, I checked and it is, but no one uses it. Only 4 tweets ever made on there I was wondering if anyone else here is on Twitter, I'm there a lot.

Sad to hear about Levon Helms, great drummer, I was lucky enough to see him and the band with Bob Dylan once. RIP

Anyone got their lottery tickets for the $640 million, if so, what what would you do with it if you won. Myself personally, I'd see the world, buy every guitar I ever wanted, and help the elderly, children, and of course family.

Like Bluegrass or not, this was a talented man. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/art … 34d7f18b3a

I love the tournament, in my opinion it's the best tournament in sports. I'm a huge Duke fan but I'm also very honest, and a realist, I have Duke losing to Baylor in the Elite 8, though it's possible they won't make it that far. I have UNC playing Kentucky for the Championship, though UNC losses have all come on the road. A team with a freshman laden class such as Kentucky has never won it, but this yr may be the exception, UK looks almost unstoppable, so I have Kentucky winning it.  Syracuse has lost Fab Melo so that really hurts their chances. It promises to be a great tournament and if someone can upset Kentucky, the tourney could be wide open this year.

You might consider using Google Plus, they have something called a hangout, where you can have x amount of people in a group with video, who ever is talking, or playing in this case, their feed will pop up to the biggest screen on top, while the others are still on screen but smaller lined up across the bottom. It's just a thought, you have to have an account, but it's free.

Happy NGD PapaGuitar, I love Taylors, I don't own one, but have played many of them, when I get another guitar myself, it will be a Taylor.

Glad you're ok Nao. That's quite a story Toots. My sister and her husband use to live in my neighborhood many years ago. My brother in law was walking past a different house in the neighborhood when their dog snuck up behind him and bit him square in the rear end. About 3 days later, the dog died. Needless to say I was able to make many jokes about that one.

Just in case you missed it over the weekend, here's that new, epic 37-minute Neil Young and Crazy Horse jam: http://www.neilyoung.com/

I ran up on this, and thought I would share it with any Beatles fans. I hope you enjoy.       http://www.openculture.com/2012/01/here … rison.html

Guitars and the outdoors just go together like moss on the bank of your favorite fishing hole, campfires and friends, good times and memories.

Have fun with it, it already sounds like they like your playing otherwise they wouldn't have planned it. You're already in their good graces so let it roll, and here's hoping you can video it, I'm sure we'd all love to see it.

Several good suggestions here on the board by everyone. All I would add is try to remember how tough it was for yourself to learn in the beginning, be patient with them, keep it fun, and be supportive.

I think it's fine that he plays and is actually good at it. So long as he pursues a career in another field. You mentioned journalism, a great field to be in. We all need other interests besides what we make a living at. I mean look at us, we all have an interest in music, the guitar, but most of us don't make a living at it. How dull might our lives be if we didn't have other interests other than our jobs. He wants to a pursue a career otherwise so I see no problem with it, we have a lifetime to learn as much as we can about everything we can, I say hats off to him, he could do much worse.
