Now that I'm thinking about it
Snowy White
Doyle Bramhall
(Check them doing the solo for Comfortably Numb on Roger Water's in the Flesh DVD. If you haven't seen this you'll thank me forever))
Paul I'm with you 100%, but then we can throw in Warren Heynes and Dereck Trucks as well. Geez, there are just so many of these awesome guitarists.
Thankfully!!!!!
An addition to my list
Leslie West of Mountain
We can't leave out Steve Howe and Lesley West and another of my home grown boys, Trevor Rabin. The list just grows and grows... keep sending.
Hi Tim, Dave matthews is awesome, do you know that since he left South Africa he has never done a show here. I don't even know how many people would even know who is and how awesome the DMB is. My brother is good friends with his cousin so we are kept up to speed with DVD's and CD's.
You guys should all come out here sometime and we have a huge jam session. It's really cheap with your dollars in our country.
Tony, You guys have so much opportunity to see the best of the best. I live in Cape Town, South Africa where they get excited because James Blunt was in Town. How bad is that. Our market and audience is just too small for anybody to consider touring here.
We do have some seriously talented guitarists here but they will always just be small time entertainers in pubs etc.
I originally submitted an oldies list who will forever remain my favourites but, here's my younger hotshot list that hold their own anywhere, anytime
John Mayer
Joe Bonamassa
Johnny Lang
Kenny Wayne Shepherd
Eric Steckel.
This will show my age but you guys all need tohave a serious listen to Buchanan and Gallagher. My twenty year old son was blown away.
No particular order:
Gilmour
Hendrix
SRV
Roy Buchanan
Rory Gallagher
Interesting: 4 of the 5 are entertaining upstairs, May their memories last forever!
