One thing about this thread. It might have wandered but it is still silly. (and fun) These days can use more fun. Have a gooden.

LOL  I read that to my 16 y/o daughter and she laughed at the phrasing.  (Junior in High School, you can imagine what she hears.)

"Life is too important to be taken seriously."  --Oscar Wilde

Oh no! The poor child will think I'm a dirty old man every time she hears that song. Heck I don't even know what a Nobby Dob is. I may not even have one.

Os thanks to you for posting this. I have been thinking of thanking these folks but just haven't done it yet.
I joined chordie just over a month ago. I am not that good of a player but thanks to folks on here I am gaining confidence, learning new ideas, songs that I thought were out of my reach are now a lot of fun to play. I have enlarged my CHRISTmas song list just in time for our program at church.
Thanks to someone on chordie I found a site that taught a Blues song on line. It took me a day and a half but I can play it now. All in all I too want to say thank you to all involved in the chordie experience. Some of you know I am going on 66 years old and having a blast!
I never figured out how to post a positive review for chordie but if the moderators can use any of this to do so feel free to. AL

My memory is not what it never was but  I (think) I remember FM radio not having commercials when it first came out, or at least when they started making it an option in car radios.

Three things I used to say to get a laugh.
1- I ONCE MADE A RECORD BUT THEY DIDN'T PUT A HOLE IN IT.

I want to write 2 songs and below are the titles.

SHE KISSED ME ON THE CORNER AND I SHOT ACROSS THE STREET

SHE USED TO KISS ME ON THE LIPS BUT IT"S ALL OVER NOW

My Mom had an old guitar that had a metal bridge. We used to joke about being able to play behind the bridge. You could strum the strings behind the bridge. Knowing our financial status at the time I'm sure it was a cheapie. After Mom passed and two stepmothers I never knew what happened to it after I joined the service. Anyway, to get back to the question. I learned how to pick out HONKY TONK  and Ghost Riders in the sky on it as a kid.
Many years later my wife bought me my Yamaha FG750S. I have had the action adjusted and like it a lot. The idea of looking for something better has crossed my mind but I am afraid I would hurt some feelings so I don't. Anyway, this guitar is capable of doing more than I can offer.

I just thought that I would post a public service announcement for the people in the US who have apparently forgotton about Thanksgiving (or at least the meaning of it...it's more than a couple days off to watch terrible football...sorry Lions fans). There have been houses in my town that have had their Christmas lights hung and lit for the last week already! I just wanted to remind everyone that we do have a lot to be thankful for, especially here in the US, and we should take a little time between our two most materialistic holidays (Halloween and Christmas) to reflect on how lucky we actually are. It's fine if you want to hang the lights before it gets too cold, but please leave them off before Thanksgiving! I love Christmas, I just don't think we should forget to give thanks for all of the things that make Christmas special. And finally, maybe if we stop to think about all we have to be thankful for, we may be willing to share some of our good fortune with those less fortunate to make their Christmas more special as well.

So, Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Drive safe and enjoy the time with your families!

Well said! I realize Thanksgiving is an American holiday but we all should be thankful each and every day.Every day is a gift! That's why it's called the present!

Some denominations don't allow any music.
Some don't allow stringed instruments (so they say) but yet they play all their music on piano. Which has plenty of strings. I am not bashing them. They have the right.
I'm Baptist. We won't make love standing up. Someone might think we are dancing!
