When preparing to play a gig or just play for friends and family at a holiday gathering, what are the top 10 or 20 songs you always choose as your favorite songs to sing, play and please the crowd with?

I'll start with a few of mine. smile

Blue Moon of Kentucky - Elvis
You're Right, I'm Left She's Gone - Elvis
King of the Road - Roger Miller
Margaritaville - Jimmy Buffett
Mama Tried - Merle Haggard

I found a couple of good songs like Ray Stevens and Lowden Wainwright III, someone suggested Rodney Carrington.  Can you guys recommend a songbook here on Chordie that has some really fun stuff that is fairly easy to play? wink

Thanks!

Merry Christmas

I just ran across one that I think will be a BIG hit at the next party I go to.

Dead Skunk ~ by LW-III

I had forgotten all about that song!  LOL

I believe "House of the Rising Sun" was my first song over 35 years ago.  I still play it fom time to time... (smile)

Thanks for the feedback folks!

I will try to learn the make this chord work.  It's a bit too low for me in G and the capo just doesn't do it for me on this one...

Love the song!  I listened to the youtube version by Walbaye.  He reminds me of Tom T. Hall!

I'm trying to play Pancho and Lefty and I don't quite have the skills yet to move to and from the Bm chord.  Does anyone have a suggestion of an easier chord to use until I can master the Bm shift?  The rest of the song is pretty easy but I ahve not found a chord yet on my own that seems to fit....

Thanks!

Merry Christmas!
