Sounds very good. Like the song - original and well written and played.  I googled the Goats Head - cool tavern / Pub
and it looks like a very cool place. I would bet there are a lot of stories those walls could tell... (As I typed that, a title to a song popped in my had :  Goats Head and " Tales"  smile

Bet you know a few yourself !!

Thanks for sharing

Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I work down at the Pizza Pit
And I drive an old Hyundai
I still live with my mom and dad
I'm 5'3" and overweight
I'm a sci-fi fanatic, mild asthmatic
I've never been to second base
But there's a whole 'nother me you need to see
Go check out MySpace

[Chorus]
'Cause online, I'm out in Hollywood
I'm six-foot-five and I look damn good
I drive a Maserati, I'm a black belt in Karate
And I love a good glass of wine
It turns girls on that I'm mysterious
I tell 'em I don't want nothin' serious
'Cause even on a slow day, I can have a three-way
Chat with two women at one time
I'm so much cooler online
So much cooler online

[Verse 2]
I get home, I kiss my mom
And she fixes me a snack
I head down to my basement bedroom
And fire up my Mac
In real life, the only time I've
Ever even been to L.A
Was when I got the chance with the marchin' band
To play tuba in the Rose Parade
See upcoming country shows
Get tickets for your favorite artists
You might also like

[Chorus]
But online, I live in Malibu
I've posed for Calvin Klein, I've been in GQ
I'm single and I'm rich
And I got a set of six-pack abs that will blow your mind
It turns girls on that I'm mysterious
I tell 'em I don't want nothin' serious
'Cause even on a slow day, I can have a three-way
Chat with two women at one time
I'm so much cooler online
Yeah, I'm cooler online

[Bridge]
When you got my kinda stats, it's hard to get a date
Let alone a real girlfriend
But I grow another foot and I lose a bunch of weight
Every time I log in

[Chorus]
Online, I'm out in Hollywood
I'm six-foot-five and I look damn good
Even on a slow day, I can have a three-way
Chat with two women at one time
I'm so much cooler online
Yeah, I'm cooler online
I'm so much cooler online
Yeah, I'm cooler online

EB,
Have at at it - you can have it.
That was a non-definitive verse - just setting up the reason.  I'm sure there are  dozens of reasons in many minds that could fill  the rest of the song.
Thank you Brian and Peatle

Seems the thread about writer's block got in my head and  I figured that maybe in some cases, this might be the reason.

Empty Page By Jim Kenyon

(Verse 1 )

.

[G]Staring at this empty page, can’t seem to make a rhyme

[C]Every line I try to write, raises [G]memories lost in time.

[C] thoughts are like shadows, oh,they [G]dim and try to hide

[D]Wish I could write something, but [C] nothing comes to [G] mind

.

(Verse 2 )

.

[G]I want to write about how she could always make me smile

[C]how her green eyes would sparkle, tho, [G]I ain’t seen’em in a while.

[C]tonight the ink won’t flow, like my [G]heart, bleeding through

[D]‘Cause every word I write just, [C]leads me back to thoughts of [G]you.

.

(Chorus)

.

this [C] notepad, it tortures me, with [G]memories from the past

Its [C]silence is deafening, with [G]lines of love that didn’t last

Every [C]line I write, somehow gets me [G]feeling kind of strange

‘cause [D]tonight it’s me thinking of you, as I [C]write this empty [G] page

.

(Verse 3 )

.

[G]My pen has authored many songs, but tonight it is no friend

[C]Won’t let me write I Love you, because it [G]says it makes no sense

[C]I thought I had a verse to write but [G]couldn’t find the right key

[D]To unlock my heart, and this song, that you left in[G] me

.

(Chorus)

.

this [C] notepad, it tortures me, with [G]memories from the past

Its [C]silence is deafening, with [G]lines of love that didn’t last

Every [C]line I write, somehow gets me [G]feeling kind of strange

‘cause [D]tonight it’s me thinking of you, as I [C]write this empty [G]page

Outgo

.

One [C]day the words might finally fall, [G]I’ll write of love’s quiet rage.

But [D]tonight it’s me thinking of you, as I [C]write this empty [G]page

Condolences to Bill and his family.  I think of him often. He was the heart and soul of Chordie for many years - I always looked up to him. He gave so much good advice and had a tremendous sense of humor.  He was quite aware of his dimentia situation and often commented about it. I even wrote a song about it at his request called " The creek don't run by my cabin no more" I hope he is doing well in the care of his family. Although I never met him in person we exchanged emails and cards often.  A true gentleman and wise sage.
Donna was the light of his life -   he called her the " Beautiful Dondra!"

Sadness on chordie tonight for Dondra & Bill !!
May peace be with them both.

Graham

I like it as well.   Lyrics are spot on !!

A song I have had in my mind for a while, finally worked on it, so here it is,
Let me know what you think !

Just A Girl I Used To Know By Jim Kenyon

Verse 1

.

[G] Just sitting here thinking about the past

[D] things that matter, things that didn’t last

[Em] good times that won’t leave my mind,

a [C]love I once had ,but [D]somehow got left [G]behind

.

Verse 2

.

[G]She was everything I thought I'd ever need

[D]One look in her eyes, it was hard to breathe

[Em] still see her smile in the back of my mind,

But [C] now they're just [D] images lost in [G]time

.

Chorus

.

Because now

[Em]she's just a memory, a [C]whisper in the [G]wind,

[Em]ain’t never,ever [C]gonna have her back [G]again

[Em]She was the girl I loved, but [C]somehow let her [G]go,

And [D] now she's just a [C] girl, I used to[G] know

Verse 3

.

[G]We swore we’d love forever, just her and me

[D]but time and distance wouldn't let us be

[Em]started drifting like clouds up in the sky

and[C]the quiet truth is I’m [D]still wondering [G]why

.

Chorus

.

Because now

[Em]she's just a memory, a [C]whisper in the [G]wind,

[Em]ain’t never, ever [C]gonna have her back [G]again

[Em]She was the girl I loved, but [C]somehow let her [G]go,

And [D] now she's just a [C] girl, I used to[G] know

.

Bridge

.

[C]Maybe in another life, we’ll meet [G]again

[C]over coffee share some remember [G]whens

[C]But now the past is gone, and all I can [G]say

Is that I [D]let her slip a[C]way, I let her slip a[G]way.

.

Chorus

.

Outgo

So I can [Em]only raise my glass to the[C] girl that I once [G]loved

And [Em]toast to the memories that [C] I'm dreaming [G]of

She was the [Em] girl that I loved, but [C]somehow let her [G]go,

And [D] now she's just a [C] girl, I used to [G] know

And [D] now she's just a [C] girl,I used to [G] know

Very Slow

And [D] now she's just a [C] girl, I used to [G] know

When She Believed By Jim Kenyon

[G]Just sixteen, a little confused un[C]sure who to turn to

[G]Mom’s so busy with herself, and [D]Dad doesn't seem to care

And [D] dream of being [C] happy once a[G]gain

[G] but there was

[G] always something, that drove her [C] toward the edge

She was [D]hoping she could go back to [C]when she be[G]lieved

Chorus (2)

.

[G]That she could

[C ] take a walk in the park, go barefoot in dewy[G] grass

[C]dance in the sand, and not be afraid to [G] laugh

[C] sing silly songs, and take risks without a [G]care

And [D] paint her desires on a [C] canvas made of [G]air

.

Repeat  Chorus (1)

.

[G]she wishes she could

[C] jump in the ocean and dance among the [G]waves

[C] spread her arms, and fly to the [G]moon,

[C]sleep under the stars, far from all of her [G] pain

And [D] dream of being [C] happy once a[G]gain

.

Outgo

She was

[D] dreaming of being [C] happy once a[G]gain

She was

That is so .... applicable to probably every young boy ever.
Leave it to imagination as to who was the protagonist ( dad, mom, grandparent sibling......

Nice song -looking forward to hearing it

Jim

p.s.

apparently it is appropriate if it took you this long to finish !  smile

That was very awesome Brian !
So cool they got together.
I agree with Phill - that was exactly what I was thinking.... I will add that the sense of Pride was in there faces ( although it was so naive as all young soldiers seem to be) that they were going to go to war and then come back.  It didn't work that way for millions of young men across the years of conflict.

Great song !

Thanks for sharing
