Thanks Phill !

Feel free to take a stab at that Rock n' roll song  if you have the time and Ann doesn't have a whole list of Honey Dew stuff for you.
It was my feeble attempt at rock n' roll - thought is was a decent idea - but probably screwed up the chords and phrasing !

Thanks for your kind words.

EB  Liked this one - I had never heard it either.

Was it a big hit in '87 ?

Jim

Jan these were awesome  - I especially liked the campfire song.  It is always great to hear your beautiful singing voice.

I would love to hear you sing an original if you have one.

Thanks for sharing

I have never heard that before - but it was pretty good.
I was thinking the exact same thing about the chordie situation - in fact thats why I wrote that rock song - just to post something.

I am hoping that the absence of activity is not health related.

C'mon chordies - let's get active again.  smile

Jim

p.s Brian

My book I ordered is en route - I can't wait to share your work with my grandkids!!
I hope others on here ordered as well.
I enjoyed reading yours and all the others short bios on the Underground Bookstore author page - so many cool people.

well since the rock n roll song I wrote was epically a failure... I went back to this song ( which I really like) and made a few changes as follows.

I'm hopeful of recording it soon.

lol Phill

We (my wife, my daughter, Her Husband, three kids ages 2-6) flew into Edinburgh.
He is  a pilot for United so my wife and I can use a "buddy pass"   flying stand bye and only having to pay the taxes on the ticket.
However - you are the mercy of having some empty seats.

It was going good - we were supposed to fly home from Edinburgh when the weather in the USA got horrid and grounded hundreds of flights

So we took a train to London that gave us many more options to get home.
If we had stayed another day or two  in London I would have given you a shout- it would be awesome to hook up for an ale or two and chat.
However- when there were openings - we took it - especially since it was 1st class.

We may be back - it was such a fun adventure.  The UK is beautiful country.
We went to Scotland bc My fathers family was the MacMillan Clan  which was near paisley.

Cheers

Well I just returned to the USA from a fantastic visit to the UK.

Went to Edinburgh - spent 3 days traveling around beautiful Scotland (incredible castles. Lochs, and Reindeer ) took a train to London, also a magnificent city.

Thanks for us letting experience a great place !  I was amused one night watching the news on TV and how the newspeople were viewing the Trump vs. Biden debacle. The best line was a woman newsperson who summed it up in a few words -   Americans can now choose between "Vile and Senile" !   That would be a great TEE SHIRT  seller here in the U.S. smile    Sorry about this having nothing to do with music - but I just wanted to let my chordie friends from the UK know how much I liked their country, plus England pulled out a Euro cup win while we were there!!

Cheers

Jim

p.s. it took a bit to get used to the left side driving and small roads, but it was so cool.

Jan
Thanks for the kind words.
My only regret is that I can't sing like you and the others on here.
I think it is a good song, but I will probably butcher it in recording it.
(But I will give it a go anyway)

So good to hear from you  - maybe you could put up a song also - we all love to listen to that great voice !

Well since nobody is doing much on chordie these days... I thought I'd take a shot at writing a song.

Why did I write it about Madrid ?  IDk - but I plan on going there in the next 16 months ! (on my Bucket List!)

So here it is....

Madrid   by Jim Kenyon

Verse 1

.

[Em]she said “come to me baby, as fast you can

I [D] need some lovin’, need to hold my man

So I [Em] flew to Madrid in the dead of the night

as[D] velvet darkness [C] turned to morning [Em]light

.

Verse 2

.

[Em]a journey to memories that were left behind

In [D] the city of passion and Rioja wine

I [Em] came through the clouds towards the Spanish sun

to [D]mend a heart back to [C] where we had [Em] begun

.

Chorus

[Am] walking the streets of Madrid, where lovers roam

We [Em]talked about the future, and going home

a[Am]long the way, we’ll find ourselves again

In the [B7]whispers of love, but you [Am] never can know [Em]when

Verse 3

.

[Em]when she loves, she loves, when she cries she cries

When [D]she left me in L.A., she never said good bye

she [Em] headed for Madrid, to find a new life it seemed

but [D] it only broke her heart and [C] shattered all her [Em] dreams

.

Chorus

[Am] walking the streets of Madrid, where lovers roam

We [Em]talked about the future, and going home

a[Am]long the way, we’ll find ourselves again

In the [B7]whispers of love, but you [Am] never can know [Em]when
