Gibson LP Standard is my weapon of choice for most gigs but always have my 84 Strat with Texas Special pickups handy for when I bust a string. Alternatively my SG makes a great alternative when my spine cannot handle the weight of the LP.

Aquilla are the industry standard strings. I've never used any others apart from the strings that were originally supplied with my uke but they were rubbish and were canned within an hour and replaced with Aquilla. I play a soprano uke but am looking for a tenor / concert and will be sticking with Aquilla strings.
