Nullabor Wall does it meaning anything in Australia. Just wondering..

The Nullarbor Plain is the desert between Western Australia and South Australia, as per the map below. The world Nullarbor is for "no trees" ... I thought it was an aboriganal word, but the etymology seems latin ... , when we were recording the track the producer said that the name was reflective of the difference in music between the East and the West of Australia, and how artists in the West had to go beyond that wall to make it in Australia ...

I think your Chordie handle "Neophytte" would have blended right in. Terrific memories for you, I'm sure.

I think maybe I was looking in the same part of the dictionary when I named the song too ... smile

Neo , I agree with your last statement. We all have varying degrees of talent even the Pro's. I know I'll never be as good as my favorite artists but I've come along way from where I started. If you have the will, desire and you put some effort into playing you are a winner. The enjoyment is worth it. Every time I pick up the guitar I am amazed at the fact I can make music from it. I'll play with anyone who wants to sit down and pick no matter what there skill level is. Peatle your a winner in my book !

... and I agree with your last statement!!

If you thought that version of City of New Orleans was rough on my voice, you should have heard me try it in C. LOL!  That was an immediate trip to the delete key when I started to play it back.

Been there, done that!!! smile

Right off the bat, I'm challenging Zurf to do "Dreamboat Annie" by Heart, as I think it would suit his guitar style and vocals (albeit in a male range, rather than a female range): video demo1, video demo2

That was excellent - I'm not familiar with the song, but the dude on the black guitar really added lots to it ...

In fact, just going a bit OT - I'm surprised how many 'standards' you have that I haven't heard, and how many songs I'd consider 'bread and butter' songs that you guys haven't heard ... anyway, back on-topic!! smile

The long-awaited and surely disappointing Zurfelized acoustic Smoke On The Water

This is a hard song to get going acoustically, mainly because of it's association with the way it's played in a (then) Heavy Metal band (would now be considered 'hard rock') - but you did a pretty good version considering it's well out of your comfort zone!! (and not too fast - about the right pace!)

This one was a bit rough (as per your 'early morning' comment, I'm guessing), but it sounds like it really suits your voice ... I'd like to hear it when your voice is warmed up, I think it would sound killer!!

(my son was stood next to me and said you sound pretty good ...)

I like your commect about the chords being played "sometimes intentionally", made me LOL. I like this version, I hope you try "Dreamboat Annie" by Heart in the next months challenge, I'd like to hear you do that, I think it would suit your style (but it may be another capo addition to get the right key for your voice)

Another one I'm not familiar with, the guitar on this sounds good ...

Sorry it's taken so long to get around to listening to them; sounds like everyone has been having a busy month!!! And I hope I got all of them - let me know if I missed any!!!
