Topic: Lost Lover's Lullaby

Woke up this morning -  and had this idea in my head about  when people meet the crossroad - and have to decide whether or not to fall in love again.

Lost Lover’s Lullaby by  Jim Kenyon

[G]there’s a part of her [D]heart that’s off [Am] limits

oh [G]someone, somewhere [D]broke it in her [C]past

[G] hard to offer her [D]innocence [Am]again

as [C]somehow the love and [D]pain both seem to [G]last

.

Chorus

But she [C]smiles when she hears that tender love song [G] play

just an [C]old tune that reminds her of better [G]days

makes her [C]wonder if she’ll give love another [G] try

Well you [D]know it’s just a [C]lost lover’s lulla[G]by

yeah you [D]know it’s just a [C]lost lover’s lulla[G]by

.

[G]Alone and confused, it's [D] hard to find her [Am]way

she[G] still doesn’t under[D]stand what went [C]wrong

[G]All she wanted was [D] someone that she could [Am]trust

but [C]now she hides her heart and [D] tries to be[G] strong

.

Chorus (2x)

But she [C]smiles when she hears that tenderlove song [G] play

just an [C]old tune that reminds her of better [G]days

makes her [C]wonder if she’ll give love another [G] try

Well you [D]know it’s just a [C]lost lover’s lulla[G]by

yeah you [D]know it’s just a [C]lost lover’s lulla[G]by

.

yea she [C]smiles when she hears that tenderlove song [G] play

just an [C]old tune that reminds her of better [G]days

makes her [C]wonder if she’ll give love another [G] try

Well you [D]know it’s just a [C]lost lover’s lulla[G]by

yeah you [D]know it’s just a [C]lost lover’s lulla[G]by

.

(Outgo- slower)

Well you [D]know it’s just a [C] lost lover’s lulla[G]by

I like the idea of this song but I need to hear how it goes. I wasn't able to get it right when I tried.

Another lovely ballad, TIG ... you certainly have a knack for these. As I read it, the tune for "I'll Give You a Daisy a Day, Dear" came to mind, and I can hear your song going something like that with a waltz rhythm ... maybe I'm way off. Very nice work!

Re: Lost Lover's Lullaby

Thanks Jets and TF
I appreciate the honesty - it truly helps someone like me that struggles with the music part ( that sounds strange seeing that this a musical forum named Chordie! smile )
I went back and changed the chords and a few lyrics  ( as you can see above.)
I went to a different progression and modified it to fit.

It's easier to play and sing.

Thanks again for your help this version really works for me.
Jim

Re: Lost Lover's Lullaby

Thanks for this Jim....thanks?, Yes, it took me back to my teenage years, where you'd find pretty young girls breaking their heart over some fool that dumped them, makes me wonder where they are now and did they ever get over that traumatic experience?
As has been mentioned above, you have a master's degree in writing stunning observational songs, heavily influenced by country music. Another winner my friend.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

here is a link to my version on SC.  My playing and singing is awful but I think it' could be a pretty good song
