there are two guitars, one electric with a wah-wah pedal, and the other
probably acoustic. The electric (guitar 1) plays the opening, and keeps the
same chords in the verse. The acoustic (guitar 2) plays the same progression
the whole time except for the bridge.

verse 1:

Guitar 1 - riff 1
         D                 A              D   G A
well she followed him from Phoenix out to Califor...
D            A                 D   G A
and then she passed out on the bed
D           A                D          G         A
and all the little things he never even asked her for
D          A                    D    G A
she simply smiled and shook her head

Chorus:

Guitar 1 - riff 2
Guitar 2 - main riff

why can't we smile just like we used to?
why don't you figure anymore?
why has my simpathy now turned to malice?
it doesn't matter anymore.

verse 2:

Guitar 1 - riff 1

and now I realize I'm livin' like a trucker does
although I haven't got the belly
and though she followed me to California all the way
I only wanna watch the telly

(chorus)
