What I Really Meant to Say  Cyndi Thomson

There is a version of this already posted. I play it very differently and
decided
to contribute my version. It's simple, but it does the trick...at least for
me. :-)
So here it is.
What I Really Meant To Say
Cindy Thompson
Capo 1st Fret
Intro: C F
Verse 1:
[F]It took me by surprise, when I saw you standing there
[C]Close enough to touch, breathing the same air
[F]You asked me how I've been
[C]I guess that's when I smiled a[G]nd just said fine [Am]
Oh, but baby[G], I was lying
Chorus 1:
[C]What I really meant to say, is t[G]hat I'm dying here inside[Am]
[F]
And I m[C]iss you more each day, there's not a night I haven't cried
And baby, here's the truth...I'[G]m still in love with you[Am]
Yeah...that[F]'s what I really meant say[C] [F]
Verse 2 (same chords as verse 1:)
And as you walked away, the echo of my words
Cut just like a knife, cut so deep it hurt
I held back the tears, held onto my pride and watched you go
I wonder if you'll ever know
Chorus 2 (same chords and lyrics as chorus 1)
Chorus 3 (same chords as chorus 1, alternate lyrics:)
What I really meant to say, is I'm really not that strong
And no matter how I try, I'm still holding on
And here's the honest truth...I'm still in love with you
[F]That's what I really meant to say[C]
[F]That's what I really meant to say[C]
[F]That's what I really meant to say[C]
Hope this works for you guys, too! Happy picking!
