Re: Recording of She's Gone

Congratulations Jeff of your first recording! I look forward to hearing more of your creations. "She's Gone" is a wonderful song - my own daughter will be moving off to college soon and daddy has still not accepted that fact.

Re: Recording of She's Gone

Thanks James - Glad to finally get one of mine recorded. It's going to be a tough transition getting use to my daughter moving away but it's part of life. I hope we still keep our close relationship. I hope to get another song recorded today but I have found that it is not an easy process. She's Gone, which is a relatively easy song to play took awhile to get it down right. I'm wondering how it will go for my more difficult songs to play like A Walk in the Woods. That one I might put off recording for a while as I still make a few mistakes on it. The Fmaj7 to Cm transition is not easy but I'm working on it.

Re: Recording of She's Gone

Hi Jeff,

Great that you have started recording and She's Gone is a different song to me now I know the intended melody and I hope to find some time tomorrow to give it whirl myself. Now we have got you recording we have to start work on badeye to produce recordings of his songs.

As for your problems recording. It is far easier to record the music first and then sing to the recording. If you do not have the software to do this you can always record the music, copy it to a CD then record yourself singing to the CD. Doing the playing and singing together, especially when you are unused to it, is far more difficult

Re: Recording of She's Gone

Hey Roger,

This software (Sessions - by M-Audio)lets me record separate tracks but I haven't figured how to record just the chorus or verse and then paste them together. Its also a low end solution but to use this you need a microphone input that is 1/8" stereo like a headphone. I found it at our local RadioShack.. I kept beating myself up because I was using a 1/8" mono input at first and I didn't hear a thing coming in. I just recorded my guitar track first and my vocal second with the metronome keeping me from getting too ahead of myself. Again It's my first and I hope to get better. Badeye, lets get on the stick.

just listened to your songs, congrats to getting them recorded and posted.i liked them very much. i'm wanting to swap a couple of my songs for newer ones only my songs dont seem to have had very many plays yet, they have been on myspace for a while now too? any way might just put 1 on there.hope you r having a nice easter out there, thats if you celebrate easter in america? i know some places do not celerbrate it. if not then thats a shame lots of chocolate easter egg hunts,it's all about ducklings, chicks, and bunny's and chocolate shaped eggs.
