Old age and long hours

hi grah, same here, i started at 8.30 last night and played through to 11.15, all by my big self. for once i was happy with the sound coming from my speakers, and a booking at a wedding from the gig made me quite happy. lucky for me only a 1 hour drive home then down the local by 1 AM for a lager or two (or four!) it was so hot though sweating like the proverbial, spose it keeps the weight down?

I think it catches up too all of us sooner or later. More of that R adult drink might help Grah,or a little ozuo.

Seriously though, some of us are envious of those few that have regular gigs that require that kind of effort and the cramps that come with.
I'm kinda with Russell though.... hired labor, comfy chair, cooler full of cold ones, and I would add a waste container within easy tossing distance.... in these parts we drink responsibly and tend not to leave the empties scattered about the landscape.

Getting old sucks! but it still beats the other option.

Now I have to get up and move.... gettin' a butt cramp from sitting here reading all these complaints.

I do quite a lot of parties and barbeque entertainment for the Brit pack out here and even though it's quite low-key it takes a bit of effort .we do tend to make it a bit of an open Mic session so any one who wants to do a turn is welcome to get up and have a go but usually it's either Kev ,Brian or me who do the bulk .But it does encourage people to have a go,as its not as nerve racking as a real open Mic because it's just usually family and friends.
Any way back to whining my hand still hurts and is swollen ,Doug  can you recommend a good nurse we can hire along with the road crew?

Sorry Graham, no joy on my part.... any Nurses I know in your part of the world would be waaayy too old or dead to be of any interest to you.
It's been a few years since I was there, would you believe 1962 or was it 63?  Memory is the first thing to go you know.

Phill, did you get a photo of the sunshine?!  For those of us over on this side of the pond, who get our taste of the UK from television it doesn't seem so rare.  To those of us who have traveled through a few times we know sunny days are not as common as we are led to believe.  It has come to me that the Tourism Bureau must have some control over filming schedules as the entire place seems perpetually sunny, birds in song, and flowers in bloom. Rain only falls at night when everyone is asleep, morning sidewalks are freshly washed but temperate enough to stroll to work, and snow flurries only decorate the Christmas Season.  That sound about right?  The buskers, well sometimes you just have to be just a little bit different to stand out in the crowd.

Me too these days.... It's just a Summer thing I'm sure.

A few more months and the wet season starts and folks will want to be leaving earlier to batten down the hatches.

The good news, Graham, is that they still wanted more. Last time I was on stage (almost 40 years ago) I inserted an improv guitar solo in "Play That Funky Music White Boy" (loooooonnngg story!). Not too many were pleased or impressed.
